Lord knows we need some power from third base on this team!

Over 50% of his games have been at 3B in the minors. The Dbacks appear to be converting him to play both 1B and 3B.

He's a 40 field. It's going to be like Max Muncy at 3rd.

The summary box I posted above has him as 1B/3B?

It's about ability. He doesn't have the range or instincts to play 3rd. His arm isn't particularly strong either.

You can live with that if you have a Pablo Sandoval / Max Muncy bat. That's very rare though

Also he is a right handed bat. Kung Fu Panda and Muncy were/are power lefties.

The only poor defense power right handed hitting 3B I can think of is Patrick Wisdom. Wisdom smashed 23 home runs this year and had a .789 OPS for the Cubs. His WAR was 0.3. So barely above replacement

Depending how season is going by trade deadline, Walker could be dealt and Melendez brought up. Melendez could also DH and cover 1B. I think Lawler makes the most sense at 3B long term. They could use De Los Santos as center piece in trade to land big SP.

Can he be more like Justin Turner? 1B/DH (mostly DH)?

I think you need to have him get hyper focused on being a great 1B . Lot of the same questions as Goldy had so if he can work on plate discipline, 1B defense and bat speed he could be special there.
