RIP Jimmy. Before my generation, but my dad loved him and is going to be heartbroken. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood were hitting up all the Margaritaville's in random countries with my folks.

Icon gets tossed around too easily but how else do you describe his impact on multiple generations of music lovers? He went to Paris looking for answers to questions that bothered him so, hope he found the answers he wanted. RIP Jimmy.

Although most people only know him for "Margaritaville," he wrote an incredible number of literate and thoughtful songs that his fans treasure. A truly great contemporary songwriter who contributed so much to popular music. For those of us who are fans of late 20th century singer songwriters, losing both him and Gordon Lightfoot within just months of one another really hurts.
