If you think I'm a narcissist because I dog posters loving/liking not only re-signing Zay Jones, but also for double the rate, man....if the sycophantic shoe fits...

I get it. It's really hard for you to criticize Monti. You're crediting him for TRYING to sign players. Makes no sense. But you do you, bud.
You are clearly NOT getting it.

Just in the last 48 hours I posted 3-4 critical posts about Monti. I stated multiple times that I like the plan, but do not give credit for intention - only execution.

Don’t even get me started at the LB situation.

What I calling out is your conclusion that whoever not agreeing with your opinion MUST be Sycophancy.

A different perspective - nope
Different information than you - nope
Buying into Monti long-term plan to build a consistently good team - nope

The only reason that anyone could have a different take on the situation is Sycophancy.

Yeah, checks all the boxes if that is how you convince yourself that you are right

The only way to actually like the Zay Jones move is...well, whatever you'd like to call it lol There is no factual or logical reason beyond "feels" or total trust in the organization that has led us astray countless times, to support doubling this nobody's salary. What is the justification, then? Please outline it. It's a total waste of cap space. A street FA on a league minimum deal can contribute what Zay Jones brings to the table. And oh, the excuses for his suspension are literally excusing his stupid suspension. It's his fault he was suspended and his responsibility to play well after that. Which he failed to do quite spectatularly.

So, by all means, tell me why anyone should be happy with this and not crush those supporting the move? You know, beyond blind trust and "faith" in this organization. Please do.

I’m on record earlier in this thread not liking the move at this cost. I’m not defending it at all.

But calling out people for Sycophancy because they argue a point of view that is different than yours is mind-blowing.

Crazily enough, there are those defending Zay Jones. I mean, I cannot even :biglaugh:
Honestly, they're not defending Zay Jones. They're defending the constant barrage of negativity and anger and indignation. And the other side is arguing against the rainbows-shooting-out-your-a$s-types. It's a constant vicious circle and I cannot believe y'all haven't figure it out yet.

Unfortunately. I'd rather debate the actual topic. If you're picking Zay Jones as your hill to die on (not you), man, that's wild. I'm all over with my opinions. I like the DT and Edge signings. I hate what they're doing at ILBer and especially with Zay Jones. Hell, I'm even agreeing with Brit today! For some, it's either constant blind support or constant negative.

Boy, what with all the back and forth, I'm sure glad I don't even know what that word means, much less pronounce it.

Yeah this re-signing is the one head scratcher so far of the Cardinals FA signings for me. I'm guessing that the weak WR FA class and weak WR draft class is the major reason, but it still makes little sense.

I’m the outlier on Zay. I like the signing and the contract amount.

I would guess there were some commitments made when we traded for him.

I see this as the Cardinals up holding their end of the deal. If Zay doesn’t make the roster the money is minor.

I do hope another season will create some trust/rhythm between Kyler and Zay.

Bottom line, not worth me bitching about the signing.

We didn't trade for Jones.

In fact, we signed him in May, well after everyone was done with the draft and still didn't want him. That's why giving him a raise is mind boggling.

He was the best FA WR out there at the time and several teams were trying to sign him.

However based off what he did for the Cardinals last season this new contract is really confusing.

Commitments? To a guy suspended for that long? He lost the right to any commitments at that point lol

Agree to disagree about the player/signing/amount. By a lot :)

Playing devil's advocate here... Jones agreed to a deal knowing he was going to be suspended. You do not think the suspension was taken into account in the contract he got.

2023 season - 8M
2024 season - 2.25M
2025 season - 4.65M

He didn't get to build chemistry with Kyler due to suspension. He was misused in the system etc. etc.

Maybe 4.65M just was the market value for Jones?

Why are you bending over backwards trying to make this make sense? You wonder why I draw conclusions. This is why.

I may be wrong, but I’m not sure that either Jones OR the Cardinals thought that there would be a suspension. It seemed to me that the Cardinals were perturbed that a suspension was handed down because he was exonerated of any wrongdoing before the Cardinals signed him. I just can’t imagine that MO would be willing to sign him to a 1 year contract knowing that he would miss 6 games.
