The mavs got toasted by guys who have had injuries getting injuries after the Luka trade.

What I don't get is Luka was good enough and young enough that even if you did give him the Super Max, you could still trade him for more than what you got the very next minute after he signed that super max deal. If you are so into building a winner in Dallas, how does taking a worse deal help you build that winner?

It defies logic. I couldn't follow this line of thinking.

Yeah as far as I'm concerned the only reason you do a trade like this is if you believe he's going to self-destruct somehow (through injury or lifestyle). But unless that self-destruction was deemed to be imminent I don't see why they didn't take the offseason to allow the market to set his trade value.

I'm tempted to go into conspiracy mode, but I won't.

Luka won’t age well. It’s all jump shots and no defense but he’s still a brilliant offensive mind. Anyone taking the Lakers seriously as contenders are prisoners of the moment.

The Lakers are better both now and going forward for making the trade. That's how the trade should be measured.

Suddenly, they now have a fleeting window with an aging Lebron and a 25-year-old superstar for the future.

They were not a contender prior to the trade. At least now they are in the conversation.

It's self-sabotage, plain and simple. I don't care what the current owner says, they are trying to move the team to Vegas. Tank the value of the team in the city, allow the NBA to move the team to a hot market where the owner is already established.

Agree with all the takes. Regardless of how Dallas felt about wanting to move on from Luka, it was clear they could have extracted a LOT more value for him in an open market. EVEN if they had to have AD, they left money on the table by not getting LA's future tradeable first round pick, and other positive value players like Austin Reeves or Rui from the deal.

De'Aaron Fox will undergo season-ending surgery per report.

I asked #Pistons C Jalen Duren about Shaq calling them “boring.” Duren said he’s big on earning the league's respect and won’t shy away from expectations. “When it’s time, I just want both the clips back-to-back of when he realizes we’re here and when he act like he didn’t know.”

The force for bottom dwellers to be bad is strong. They have draft picks at stake.

Can the Suns hold on and show them what really bad looks like?

There's injuries like this every year. Being healthy is half the contest as everybody needs to overcome injuries.

There are a lot of players that play through injuries only to see them repaired in the offseason.

For teams that what to improve their draft position, there is no need to postpone such procedures.

I’m going to need to start taking better care of myself…

At least we win one before the Edmonton Oilers.

This ain't Seattle, though. This is Dallas, one of the biggest cities in the entire country. The NBA ain't allowing them to move out of a market that big for a market that small... or any market, IMO.

Seattle gets a new team and wins 5 before we win 1. I think they forgot to mark the apocalypse though because surely the world will end before the Suns win a championship or immediately after.

The Suns best hope is if they can claim the apocalypse as their championship.

Maybe they should rename the team The Apocalypse.

We have different opinions on LA in the short term. I think they have a 2nd rd ceiling. Long term if they can sign a superstar or rip another team off they will be players.

One never knows. Who would have thought the Suns would make it to the Finals in 2021. A lot of things would have to go their way, but injuries happen.

Doncic will keep them in the contender conversation as long as they add another star, which I'm sure they will.

I agree, but if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

The obsession with round numbers continues to escape me. Steph is the first NBA player to make 4000 threes, he was also the first one to make 3999, and 3998.

The Suns should formulate the methods they use in games for teams that want to tank. You can have your squad shoot 60% and STILL lose by 10-15 points!!! Genius!

Watching Zach LaVine play "defense" is hilarious. Great offensive player, great shooter gives up so much on the other end it's that and injuries that explains why nobody wanted him at the trade deadline

But after the Uganda Gold and long after the Las Vegas Jackrab Bits. What are Jackrab Bits anyway, a fake-meat version of chicken nuggets?
