I would be happy to give up the third rounder to be honest.
You say this but what if Reddick is asking for a 4 year contract mostly guarenteed? We have plenty of money to make this happen it would depend on what the Jets want.

I was thinking this too. If the point of bringing in a player is that you have a need for him, why would you wait until after the portion of the regular season where you would need him the most? That would be a terrible strategy, considering he could help us be better and make the playoffs more of a possibility. But, yes, this feels like a passive Monti strategy.

We have a lot of 1st and 2nd year players to resign by year 3 and 4 of that contract - Do you really want to be paying a 33 year old Reddick 20 million dollars and not have the ability to resign a couple of our young players.
All I am saying is you need to be damn sure you can potentially win the title before you make this move because it will have negative future impact.
It's his last big contract. With what guys have been getting I wouldn't be surprised if Reddick agent opened negotiations at 3yrs 90mil.Are you saying it’s a cap issue or an owner issue? Cap wise a Reddick extension doesn’t affect important players needing deals in 2-3 years. I’d be shocked if he’s holding out over a totally unreasonable contract.

But I think 3yrs/78mil would lock him up with around 45mil guaranteed...
For our purposes...maybe add two void years...front load some salary to take most of the hit now. Like 9m bonus 27m salary in the first year...which of course would be reduced because of missed games... then salaries of 12m in years 2 and 3 with 21m cap hit each year...then 2 years of 9m dead money
It’s the draft pick. Not thinking as much about the salary implications. It's his last big contract. With what guys have been getting I wouldn't be surprised if Reddick agent opened negotiations at 3yrs 90mil.

The draft pick shouldn’t be an issue. He’s likely going for a 4th at best. It’s the draft pick. Not thinking as much about the salary implications.
Considering they gave a 3rd/conditional 2nd I'm pretty sure a 4th won't get it doneThe draft pick shouldn’t be an issue. He’s likely going for a 4th at best.
4th rounders are likely to have minimal impact at all.
If the Jets want more than that, hang up the phone. Especially when we’re into the season.
Still reasonable... you front load that contract and you never have to pay out 1.5m game checks for the games he missedI think 3/78 would’ve been a reasonable deal in the offseason but we’d only be getting him in prime playing shape for 3/4 of the season at this point. I’m sure something could be worked out where they could cut him loose before the 2026 season without much dead cap damage. Like others have said it’s up to the Jets.
It may very well be his last chance to cash in but he's already surrendered 3 million. That's big money because if he doesn't get that big contract and comes back around week to he'll surrender another 5 or 6 million. That's money he'll never get back. It's his last big contract. Agree. But some folks might see it as more reason to hold out for the bag to make up for the lossesIt may very well be his last chance to cash in but he's already surrendered 3 million. Okay, then take any other veteran, that might be available, after your own choice.I would hope he would. Being able to rehab a QB for draft assets should be on his brain. Especially with the Cardinals backup QB situation. Now, he probably wouldn't pay the price if one was even given, but it is worth a call.

+1Lots of questions here. If you’re not giving him the deal he wants, he’s an instant attitude problem. I hear he’s not interested in a make good deal though that could change as deadline approaches. He doesn’t set the edge well against the run. Not sure he’s a clubhouse asset. Seems more about himself, which the front office worked hard to clear out.

but the Jets picks sure seem like they thought they didnt have to give him a new contractConsidering they gave a 3rd/conditional 2nd I'm pretty sure a 4th won't get it done
Jets expected Rodgers and Reddick to lead them to a Lombardi trophy...so a 3rd isn't excessive.but the Jets picks sure seem like they thought they didnt have to give him a new contract
if to get him you need to give him a new contract, that means the pick is worse
add in the fact that you wont get a full 17 this season also says less comp
He wanted Pittsburgh and Chicago honored his wish.I was sad that they didn't bring in Justin Fields. I would rather have him than Bryce Young.
