The only thing I can think is it avoids players having media pressure for their recovery. That sort of thing might subconsciously pressure them to come back earlier than they should.

Us as fans don't actually need to know when players might return. When it happens it happens.

Sure. We don't need to know.
Because we already know there is zero phucking hope for a good season regardless of who comes back when.

Knowing they return soon might fool somebody into a glimmer of hope.
Surely can't have that.
