The Gordon performances are mystifying. I think he is struggling with being asked to split time on the right side--maybe feels unappreciated. That's no excuse, but I do think it calls into question the wisdom of using him on the right side. All this could have been avoided if we got a true starting right wing in the window. Then we would have Gordon and Barnes competing for playing time with a super sub coming off the bench each game.
I think his head was turned by the Liverfool stuff.

I love what the club are doing to bolster the youth system. It was absolutely starved of talent under Ca$hley. It's just the progress that needs to be made with the senior squad that concerns me.

Now THAT is the kind of effort Newcastle needed to kick start their season. And as horrific as Gordon was last game and not trying, he more than made up for it today. I think agreeing that deal really settled him mentally.

Yeah, this team is going nowhere. What they really needed to avoid stagnation and freshen up the attacking juice to create goals was sign a right sided attacker and a real, ready striker. Callum Wilson should just retire at this point. I mean, JFC, talk about unreliable! With no one to spell him, of course Isak breaks down.

So of course they signed a developmental striker, a bunch of backup keepers, and a backup defender, and nothing else. Le sigh.

BHA extremely lucky on the day. Insanely lucky. I hope Welbeck is okay.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, as well as Ajax, have set their sights on the United flop.

Newcastle are becoming a joke. Callum Wilson ruled out for AT LEAST another 3 games. That'll be the first 11 games of the season he misses, at minimum. Good thing we fended off Atletico's interest in him and absolutely did not sign any fit for purpose strikers in the summer window :sarcasm:

Howe is rapidly burning up any and all credit he has at Newcastle. Clutching at Wilson as a great servant to the club while at the same time claiming you can't afford three prominent strikers on one team. Gee, Eddie, I'd like at least two, you know?

I've not been posting much because I have nothing positive to say. I thought Lewis Hall was good today, especially going forward. That Isak missed opportunity had me screaming at the TV. Also, I like how they throw Osula on for 5 minutes at the end of every game and say, "Go save us with a goal!" Oh, and how they take Tonali off every 60th minute regardless of what is happening in the game.

We can't score, and we can't defend. That pretty much sums up the season so far.

Well, unless we get a huge infusion of talent in the winter or we fire our coach, there ain't a chance in hell they make Europe and they'll struggle to finish top 10. Hell, we may need both of those things to have a chance. Forget the Champions League. That's out of reach already.

Howe has no plan B and is no longer able to motivate this team. This season, the beginning of this game, and especially the start to the second half, has made this crystal clear. It's also clear there isn't enough talent and what talent we have has grown complacent, because there's no one to challenge them for places.

Best hope? Man U hire Howe away and pay the Mags to do it, they get a top notch coach in, sign a bunch of talent in the winter, and make a run into the Euros. That is the absolute best case scenario.

The victory over Chelski in the cup was much, much better. I mean, Howe went gutless and parked the bus in the 2nd half and if Chelski had their shooting boots on it would have been a massive collapse, but he rode his luck and they advanced. Got a favorable draw, too, for the next round. Now here's to hoping (praying, really) for a result against Arsenal tomorrow.
