Was listening to a doctor on NFL radio and he was talking about calf injuries.
The problem, and why it takes so long for linemen to recover, is it’s not only your health/weight, but you also have to be able to anchor against another 300lb guy.
That’s why you have to be at full strength or you’re going to re-injure yourself.

That makes it sound like he will play!

Don't get excited, he is on the active roster and has to be on the depth chart. Gannon already said he was expected to be inactive this week. Hold him until after the bye and make sure he's ready.

For the record, I hope I am wrong and Gannon was just trying not to set any expectations when he said that last week.

We're all dying to see him help this plucky but struggling defense, but there's really no reason to rush him back. We're not winning the championship this year (at least I don't think we can).

A playoff spot would be nice, but it's not like we need him to be Walt Frazier limping up and down the court in game seven.

Agree. Playoffs is possible, Superbowl is not. No reason to rush him back.

Yesterday Gannon said he was activated. If he wasn’t, he would be on the IR all year.

Exactly, the only reason they active was so he didn't end up on IR for the season, hence why he's expected to be inactive for a few more games.

apologies, I missed the quote where Gannon said Darius would be inactive this week and I can't find it with a google search. Can someone link me?

I believe that was Willis Reed who played through a bad knee. But point still stands.
