It seems as though all year, and perhaps going back to last year, we've seen FAR fewer plays where Murray runs backwards and takes huge sacks. His evasiveness has been much better than earlier in his career (even during his great run in the first half of 2021).

Better O-line play may factor into that, and perhaps some combination of coaching and self-scouting.

I'd venture to say OL & coaching. It happened the whole time KK was there.

Yeah, I agree with that, Slanidrac. Do you see them buying one at the deadline? Maybe big brother Ojulari? I doubt it, but it would really put my hopes higher about the season than now.

1 – The best thing about the game was to see the connection Murray-to-Harrison, but really, it was almost more relief than joy. I pray they can keep it up and build on it.

2 – First time in three seasons (more than 1000 days) that the Cardinals win two in a row.

3 – Don’t trade Budda Baker. Please, Mr. Monti. In fact, sign him to a long-term contract instead. He is the heart and soul of the defense, and without him it would have been much worse.

4 – Trey McBride is a bonafide superstar.

5 – Is there a kicker battle brewing?

6 – Due to the safety of my blood pressure, I got to believe that they will hire some sort of consultant to Nick Rallis before next season. Gannon’s former mentors, George Edwards and Jerry Gray, come to mind. Hey, Bill Belichick is available and has relationships with both Gannon and Ossenfort! Or If Matt Eberflus is fired in Chicago (he has been dead man walking for more than one season), or Gannon’s best bud, Brandon Staley, don’t like San Francisco. They both have clear connections to Gannon. Just do something.

7 – Jalen Thompson is having an under-the-radar very good season.

8 – I don’t understand the frequent substitution of Isaiah Adams for Trystan Colon at right guard during games. Everyone says that cohesiveness is key to the offensive line, so why mess with it?

(Edito… well, me: And when coming to post this column, I see that @BACH has covered this exact topic. The thing is, though, that I have already deleted the rest of the thoughts I wrote down, and my memory sucks, so I have to let this stay in order to comply with the 10-thoughts rule).

9 – The game could still be going on, and the Cards would not yet have gotten any pressure on Tagovailoa.

10 – Now that Harrison woke up, my man Dortch had to find other ways to impact the game. Great special teams play on downing that punt.

Couple things:

5. Is Prater tradable?(doubt it) Seems like there are some teams that are competitive that need a kicker. Sure nothing more than a conditional 6th or 7th but it’s something.

I’m in the “ We tried but couldn’t do it camp”. What worries me about Ojulari is can he duplicate what he’s doing here surrounded by lesser talent? Burns on the opposite side surely attracts most the attention. But I wouldn’t be mad if we got him.

Also, he’s had a full year of recovery. I was back on the field 10 months post op (ACL) and doing pretty well, but my 2nd year I had fully recovered and was pretty much my old self. It’s a combination of factors, but Kyler definitely seems to have gotten most of his speed/footwork back.

Trey is a star between the 20s.

He'll be a superstar when he crosses the goal line regularly.

He gonna have to RAC for that... Petzing is too attacked to the fade and the run game for Trey to get his number called often in scoring range

Tight End routes in the red zone appear to be more accross the middle. When the defense is more compacted due to the shorter field, it becomes harder for a height challenged QB to see through all of the bodies. Not saying anything about Murray, but he is height challenged. The OL and DL are mostly 6-5+ guys and he has to look past at least 12 bodies (5 OL and 7 DL/LBs) plus whoever is covering the TE. As such, I don't expect Trey to have a lot of TD's in the red zone. Maybe designed roll-outs or fades to your TE. Heck put him in the backfield. He is elusive and isn't apposed to lowering a shoulder or jumping over the pile.

they used to do this little TE slip flare that was really effective...where he would influence block his guy then let him by and slide about three yards downfield heading to the sideline..QB just tosses it over the top of the guy he was blocking...very hard to stop
