How you're playing has nothing to do with the Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl is more about how people think you are playing. Rep carries a long way. Marshon Lattimore made the Pro Bowl bowl for years based on a couple of great seasons.
Did you reply to the wrong person? Not sure what any of this has to do with my post.

Budda for sure pro Bowl 100%. But 1st team all pro? Just don't think he should be with how one dimensional he is. As well as his complete lack of creating turnovers.
but his one dimension is a level above most of his peers.

Ehhh still not all pro. Pro Bowler? 100%

We are in week 10 now and not a single FF, not a single Int, Only 4 TFL. A whopping 2 passes defended in 9 full games. If that’s all pro to anyone then good for them. Not me.

I'm thinking McBride is closer to All-pro than Budda. McKinny is a DPOY candidate at S

McBride is a an odds on favorite for the Pro Bowl no?

He's 2nd in the NFC in yards (and only 22 behind leader) and with a fair wind should break 1000 yards. Next closest NFC contender is Kyle Pitts who's 50 yards back.

People aren't going to love this heuristic, but McBride is TE6 and 41st overall in Fantasy (per PFR). Four of the five TEs above him also play in the NFC. George Kittle has only played in seven games and he's still TE1.

Budda has played so well you have to consider keeping him at his ridiculous salary
No need to pay him a ridiculous salary, as really no safeties are making ridiculous money these days. 10 per should do it.

Edit: Yikes...maybe I'd go 12 or 13, but 15M per year, especially with what we have invested in Thompson as well seems like a lot.

I think it’s more about the guarantee monies.

Yeah, hard to justify two huge salaries at S when you have many other positions that are desperately in need of good players.
When you don't have any other good players to pay it actually isn't that big a deal. That's the situation we're in right now. That money is just gonna roll over again.

We are almost in "QB on a rookie contract" territory. Very little cap dollars tied up long term. There is no need to cut Jalen to move off of his contract. The reason you would trade him is to open up a spot for DTD and if you extend Budda.

He's missed 1 kick due to a block, he's perfect from long range, multiple game winners, outstanding on kick offs.
And Special Teams player of the month for his first month.

He does need to keep it up for the next two months to get a Pro Bowl nod over more established names.

I really don't understand this love for Ryland. He has made a bunch of 30 yard kicks and a couple 50 yarders.

Somehow just doing his job like an average kicker makes him a pro bowler to you. I don't get it.
Sometimes you don't realize how important a good kicker is until you don't have one. We had some bad ones before Prater, who is 40 btw.

When was the last time the Cardinals had a kicker who that only can kick from distance distance, but had multiple game winners?

Plus his kick off in the Bears game that landed in the zone and rolled into the end zone was a thing of beauty and the bears 10 yards

Yes, we should extend Budda, open up a spot for DTD, and clear Jalen's money.

You say no need to cut him because you know nobody is trading for that contract.

That’s a BS argument people make every year.
How many bad players are named to the pro bowl?

Some lesser guys get in as replacements but the starting team is pretty much all guys that deserve it.

The starting team is never guys that deserve it, not wholly, and not for a long time.

The AFC offence last year started Tua and Mostert. Lamar, and Mahomes were reserves and Stroud and Minshew(!) were alternates. Does anyone think Tua was better last year than Lamar, Mahomes and Stroud? Mostert had the 5th most yards in the AFC but beat out James Cook and Henry. Mostert had a bunch of TD's because he ran in a lot of 5 yarders.

Budda made it last year and had a super meh year.

It's mostly good players (you get the odd Trubisky) but it's never all the best players. There's often 2-4 on each side where your like, "How did that guy make it over him?".

Well it’s the bye week and I need some fun conversations to get me through another week without Cardinals football!

Last week on 98.7 they were discussing what players have made the most impact thus far. They voted on 3 categories:

1. Non QB MVP (they removed K1 from the conversation bc he’s obviously played tremendously leading the team to 4 wins in a row & 1st place in the NFC West)

2. Defensive Player of the year.

3. Unsung Hero of the team.

To me the Non QB MVP has to be Chad Ryland. He is single-handedly responsible for 3 of our 6 wins. Not only did he kick 3 game-winning kicks, he did it under the most ridiculous pressure. Had he missed any of those kicks we lose those games. Again, those kicks happened when we were LOSING. It’s one thing to make the kick when the game is tied and missing means simply going to overtime, but it’s a different level of pressure to make the kick when missing means game over. There’s a world where we are 3-7 right now and in dead last in the NFC West without Ryland coming up clutch again and again and again.

My defensive player of the year has to go to Budda. He’s got 100 total tackles and 7 TFL. He’s been outstanding.

With that said I’m extremely pleased with Garrett Williams and the defensive line as a whole has completely over-performed.

For the last category of unsung hero, I thought about Froholdt (he was a backup none of us knew when we signed him last year and now he is easily a top 10 center) but I’m going with Beachum.

Whats not to love about Beach? At age 35 he’s still holding steady in his 13th season. He’s played for 4 teams in his career and now his longest tenure is as an Arizona Cardinal (he’s in his 5th season with the Cardinals). He was forced into action in week 1 and hasn’t been a liability at all at RT. I’m honestly not sure Jonah Williams is going to be a noticeable upgrade.

Who are your winners in these 3 categories?
