I was in the MHJ camp but thought Nabers might fit a better with Murray because Murray liking to see WRs open before throwing.

I did also like the idea of Alt. In hindsight, I think AZ is fine.

MHJ has had some moments in which he’s looked like an obvious rookie, but he’s also had some catches that only a handful of WR in the NFL can make.

He is going to be very good, maybe not an all time great, but he is at least going to be a very good #1 for a long time.

MHJ is going to be a fine WR. I have questions if he is going to hit Jamar Chase / Justin Jefferson levels (which the pre draft hype sure seemed to imply would be the case)

I think he will be much better in year 2.

I also think he would be much better if there was a legit 2nd WR option on the field in obvious passing downs ( ie: a true WR2 with Wilson as the 3rd WR)

Chase had Tee Higgins already there (and AJ Green?). Jefferson had Adam Thielen already there.

What is the quality of WR2 people are thinking about when they say this? I'm apparently a bigger fan of Michael Wilson than anyone on this board who isn't Britcard, but c'mon.

Tee Higgins was in his second season when Chase was a rookie for the Bengals. Yes, he was a high second round pick and had 900+ yards, but what was more Burrow (maybe).

Adam Thielen had a couple big years earlier in his career when Kirk came to the Vikes, but he's not an overwhelming talent or anything, either.

It was unrealistic to think that MHJ was going to walk in the door and get 125 YPG, but I don't think that a Garrett Wilson-quality rookie season should have been out of the question. I think he's hampered by this offense first and his QB second.

petzing wants the pass to go to the designated designed route - he wants kyler to throw it while the route is still in progress - he wants it all to happen in a few seconds - this gives petzing's offensive brain a woody

but when they're f***ing with mhj at the line of scrimmage and shadowing him with a safety over top you have to get creative - basic routes are basic and predictable

I think Kyle Pitts being a massive bust had people hesitant to talk up Bowers as a top 5 pick, plus the pictures of Bowers not looking like a physical specimen when standing next to Gronk.

I believe @DVontel @Vacard @azsouthendzone were the Nabers advocates prior to the draft. I don’t think they were crazy about Nabers from a chemistry perspective and I wouldn’t be shocked if Bidwill pushed for the legacy son of a HOF WR.

My gut says Nabers would have more yards because you'd think Petzing would at least throw him a screen pass. Not sure he has the same TDs though.

Baldinger and Sikkema (sp) believe MHJ is never going to win with speed/separation. He's going to win with route running like Davante Adams.

Kyler and him are going to have to live together this offseason to get chemistry going. I do have hope since Kyler worked with Hopkins. Although he got a Hopkins that already figured the NFL out.

I was kind of shocked how he was just pulling away from Chiefs defenders. Raiders saved the league from him going to the Bengals.

i like Mike Wilson, but its just his second year.

Adam Theilen was an 8 year pro with two 1,200+ yard seasons under his belt when Jefferson showed up.

Tyler Boyd was a 5 year pro (the 3rd Bengal WR) who also had a couple 1,000+ yard seasons when Chase showed up

You shouldn’t have that issue after drafting a receiver with the 4th pick. I think that most of us agree, retrospectively that Malik Nabers might have been a better fit. Let alone Brock Bowers or Joe Alt. The front office should not have selected MHJ if they were dead set on running the offense they are

I will be in the minority in saying that MHJ is as successful as he is because he came into the league as such a good player. I don’t believe the offense does its WRs any favors.

The reality with Chase is once he catches the ball he's more like a RB than a Wr so you can scheme him against doubles and still get explosive plays. Marv almost never gets Yac, just not his thing, not a guy who seems able to stop on a dime and change direction.

I still think he'll be a very good player, but he's not nearly as good as I had expected him to be
