But, are they allowed to unload on a sliding QB at the sideline?
Forearm them above the pecs?
I was under the impression a QB was both "Down" and "100%" protected the moment he starts the slide
what if said qb is using the rule/slide to get a first down he wouldn't be able to get heads up?

He is down the very second he leans back to slide..the ball cannot be advanced past that point even if he slides untouched for 20 more yards.
He doesn't even have to be tagged down...the play is over.
All nfl defenders know this.

Lol..I played DE and OLB... the rule is bullshyte for sure... any football player possessing the ball should be subject to concussions and broken ribs right up until the whistle blows...killing quarterbacks is a job description.

But...it isn't a new rule

When is the 2025 NFL Draft?

The 2025 NFL draft takes place Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26, 2025, in Green Bay, around Lambeau Field and the Titletown District. The first round will be on Thursday night, the second and third rounds on Friday nights, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday during the day.

What are the tiebreakers for NFL Draft picks?

Draft picks are awarded in order of lowest winning percentage, and the tiebreaker is opponents’ winning percentage, with the team that played the easier schedule picking first. If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:

Head-to-head, if applicable
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
Strength of victory in all games
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
Best net points in all games
Best net touchdowns in all games
Coin toss

The 18 non-playoff teams get the first 18 picks. The six wild card round playoff losers get picks 19-24, the four divisional round losers get picks 25-28, the conference championship game losers get picks 29 and 30, the Super Bowl loser gets pick 31 and the Super Bowl winner gets pick 32.

Saints interim HC Darren Rizzi said Derek Carr is in concussion protocol and also dealing with a left-hand injury that won’t need surgery and will leave the quarterback as “week-to-week.”

#Steelers coach Mike Tomlin tells reporters that while George Pickens (hamstring) could theoretically play this week, he’s best described as doubtful. The hamstring a bit worse than it appeared.

NFL exec Troy Vincent says the league will look to outlaw the low block: “Every block should be above the knee but below the neck. … This is the right time to remove the low block out of the game.”They’re also going to examine the onside kick.
