I know Brit and others wanna put all the blame on Kyler, but Brian Thomas Jr is out here having a much better season with also inconsistent QB play & play-calling. Marv just doesn’t have Thomas’ athleticism & Thomas beats man coverage way easier than Marv.

Marv can still have a better career going forward, but to only believe QB play is what holding Marv all the way just doesn’t fly.

Yup. Plenty of blame to go around.

And @Chopper0080 is my guy, but I absolutely believe BTJ would be having a better season than Marv even if BTJ played in this same offense. Inconsistent QB, OC, run-oriented offense first & all. He just gets open easier.

Same.

I hope that’s not true for the majority of their career moving forward.

Boy those second and third accomplishments certainly don’t speak highly to our history. But I’m guessing we all knew that.
But, he is hitting those milestones with a couple games to play before he has the same 16 games they did.
Marv is gonna be fine.

Doesn't matter.
If Harrison averages 120 catches , 1600 yards, and 14 TDs for 10 years...
Why would it matter if Thomas has 130 catches for 1700 yards and 15 TDs?
We still would have a top notch WR.
I mean, if kyler suddenly flips a switch and we win the Lombardi this year...then 4 more over the next 6 or 7 years... does it matter that he ain't Tom Brady..or Pat Mahomes?
More than one guy can be good. Let's be concerned about what our guys are doing for us...

Maybe. Kyler would have to be willing to put it up for him.

MHJ’s game is just not all that compatible with how Kyler likes to play RN. I think that’s why Kyler doesn’t seem to vibe with any of these WRs.

BTJ hasn't had inconsistent QB play on the routes he runs like Marv has had.

Thomas has a 74% catchable target rate. Marv has a 66% catchable target rate.

I've also said Marv has things to work on but Kyler is a big part of it.

Could this be a case of Thomas creating separation at a much higher level? I believe it is honestly.

Kyler is choosing to throw him the ball and it's not accurate.

We're not talking PBUs or drops under pressure. The ball isn't catchable. If Marv isn't open enough for Kyler to be on target then Kyler shouldn't be choosing to throw him the ball.

Yea, I know Kyler hasn’t always threw Marv the most accurate of passes. He should be much better at it. No excuse.

However, what is the average level of difficulty on those passes? Is Marv creating big separation to where it doesn’t need to fit in a small pocket? That’s where I believe BTJ is better than Marv at because he creates separation better because & the pocket is much bigger. If people have watched Jags games, I think it’s easy to admit BTJ has been overall better & has created much better separation than Marv has this year.

Can't argue with that.. BTJ was always a downfield monster and more of a straight line burner than Marv. Probably better suited for what Cards try to do with Marv.

However, I think he's worse with Kyler.

Probably.

But I absolutely believe he would be playing better in this offense than Marv has.

Maybe, but we really only see the separation when Kyler chooses to target Charmin. Could be those downfield passes are open and Kyler is passing up the hole-shots.

Hate to say it, but Chris Simms went out of his way to put Nabers and Thomas ahead of MHJ. And primarily because he believed they separate much better.

I think MHJ can still be really great. However, he's going to have to really hit the weight room. He's gotta be strong at the catch point like Davante Adams.

I had that game on one of the screens…the Jags just run BT on so many different routes. Same with Nabers and Chase. Cards are like fade, go, and when Marv crushes the dog or crosser they don’t go back to it.
