Well if you had 4 Larry Fitzgeralds you still need the qb to get them the ball.
And you’d still have somebody saying we need a wr with speed.
I agree. Speed is a big need in particular. Dorch and Harrison run a 4.45. If I had to pick someone specifically it would a deep threat who can stretch the field. That is literally what we are missing.

Or we can just keep getting pissed off that Harrison is more of an intermediate route runner...

Ok, What would you add??

Offense is pretty set IMO.

TE group is set.
RB group is set.

MHJ needs to develop. If he does there is a good #1 WR with a solid number 2 in Wilson. Adding a super WR would mean giving up on MHJ or Wilson. Are we ready for that. Depth is needed for sure.

OL
Center is set with Froholdt and Gaines as a back-up.
Tackle is set depending on Beachum coming back or retiring and Watkins development.
Guard.. I wouldn't mind using some of all that cap space on a quality to upgrade Brown, but Adams is still developing and Hernandez most likely will be brought back. LG is seriously the ONLY starting position where I would upgrade. (4 of the top 5 Gs per PFF are Free agents)
Upgrade at LG works for me. Depth as well is always good on the oline too.

We lack a speedy WR who is a deep threat like Jordan Addison. Harrison and Dorch runs a 4.45. Wilson can make incredible catches but also is limited speed wise. Think how much it would open up the offense if the opposing defense had to account for what we used to have with Christian Kirk.

Wait someone actually admitting that our WRs aren't a top 5 unit?

Thank God I am not alone.

Harrison was a big piece of the answer but I just think one more threat that commands the attention of the defense would be big.

Sam Darnold has more talent around him than Kyler Murray right now.
Darnold has way more talent around him right now than Murray. I believe that MHJ will be great, but he’s not there yet. We’re an average team & our record reflects that. But, we have to continue to improve.

Do you believe both Sam Darnold and Kyler Murray to be equally talented and developed quarterbacks? Shouldn't this matter?

Citation needed.
He skipped the combine 40. This was his high school time.

My point is it is not his game to stretch the field deep middle. Look at the game today. Everything deeper is a fade or backshoulder or a corner. Was hoping they would force that skilled CB to guard a post middle and make the safety make a decision but we never did. Who do we have to attack deep middle?

We need Christian Kirk 2.0.

Obviously Murray has more tools as a QB considering his ability to run. But if your WRs lacks athleticism, big plays are going to be harder to come by.

My point is if you put Murray on the Vikings he would have a better WR 1, WR 2 and a RB who has equally comparable stats to Connor. He has an above average TE who is very productive even if Mcbride is clearly better. He also has a defense that is better statistically. The olines as a whole probably cancel out.

There is a reason why the Vikings score more pts through the air and there is a reason why they have had so many 4th quarter comebacks. Our WRs are built more for consistency in slowly pushing the ball down the field than big play capability and stretching the defense. You need both.

Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson are in the bottom in terms of starting WRs in terms of how much separation they get on their routes. Citation is the last cardinals underground podcast. Makes it harder on your QB

Speed kills, and we need upgrades on both sides of the ball. True deep threat that will open the field for MHJ, Wilson and McBride. Obvious ondefense is edge rusher. Secondly a tank in the middle that can plug guard to guard and collapse the pocket.

Our oline is still garbage and our WR room is below average.
Exactly. But since we can win when Murray plays amazing against superior competition, he is the reason for our losses. And since he gets paid $100 million, those fans therefore consider him a bust.

If only he had one team like Josh Allen has had his whole career. You know like a top 5 defense, a good GM and coach, and a probowl oline.

Imagine if he had one year like that. Assuming we add a good amount of FA's, 2025 is gonna be the best opportunity he has had in his entire career and there is going to be no comparison. If we don't go far in the playoffs next year, I will start judging him. Hence my name. Monti infered it was a 3 year plan but too many people seemed to think it was this year or bust.

Someone literally called in on the radio after the game asking if we should dump Murray after the year.

After a game where we won and scored 30 points and could have scored more if Harrison could catch 1 of 3 passes in the endzone.

As someone who is originally from Chicago and was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan, I just don't vibe with the negativity, impatience and pessimism of like 1/4 of our fanbase.

Yes. Because their QB is making $10 million on a one-year deal. That allows you the flexibility to spend basically everywhere else on your roster.

This isn't difficult algebra. You're arguing that we should dump Kyler for a cheaper, less talented option. The reason you pay a veteran QB is because it allows you margin for error on the rest of the roster.

What amazes me is Josh Allen. Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly, but I seem to remember hearing how he wasn’t accurate in college and the Bills were nuts for drafting him so high. KM is light years from the QB Allen is.
If you actually watched his Wy tape, he had very poorus receivers who dropped alot of passes. But bc of the arm, athleticism and size, he was rumored to go number one overall despite the “accuracy issues”z

Well maybe if we could win a Super Bowl maybe we could tolerate losing for another 10-20 years.

There is NOTHING to support that statement.

The O-line is not garbage. Both PJJ and Froholdt are in the high 2nd tier at their positions - Meaning just below the Elite group (PJJ was rated #13 and Froholdt #8 in the league before this game). Hernandez the same with a #21 rating before his injury.

The problem is that we have players that are good scheme fits. When opposing defenses interrupt the scheme, we are in trouble.

We scored 30 today.

And of course we’ve played both DET and BUF already this year and held DET to 20 and were very competitive vs BUF.

I think the WR room is an issue right now, but am willing to be patient with Harrison.

And K1 seems fine when he’s throwing to McBride. Even on pretty deep routes.

This offense is not a finished product I agree, but we’ve had enough good offensive games to say consistency is more of an issue than talent.

The defensive on the other hand, definitely needs some help. CB1. EDGE. IDL.

Obviously happy we won today. All things considered it went better than I expected and we got some luck which was nice. So after a win, maybe it is time to actually focus on the prime issue we are facing that is getting lost in the weeds of individual player statistics...

Is Kyler Murray mediocre?

Is Marvin Harrison lagging in his progress of becoming a bona fide star WR?

Why can't Greg Dorch get open consistently?

What happened to using Benson in the screen game?

Can Mcbride ever score a TD?

These questions are no longer relevant. Because tonight the Bills beat the Lions 48-42.

Your opinion of Kyler and everyone else just went out the window. We don't have the offensive talent to beat both these teams. Something similar would be necessary in order for us to get to and win a Super Bowl. So regardless of what you think about our QB situation or any of our current players, it is time we start using our brains and realizing that we are missing the forest for the trees.

We need overwhelming talent to compete next year offensively. It doesn't matter if you think Kyler needs it or not. The team won't go far without adding another WR who demands attention and probably more oline depth.
If we don't do this in the offseason, it doesn't matter who we add on the defensive side of the ball. When we get bad luck or have a few early turnovers, it will be game set match.

But you all knew this already.

Because you remember how you felt about our chances when we were down 24-10 at half last week vs SEA. Regardless of who you blamed for that outcome. You can either keep complaining about individual performances every single week or recognize that we were all wrong when we thought at the beginning of the year the offense was perfectly set.
I had a great view of our passing game today and it was striking how little our WRs get open and separation. McBride seems like he gets 15 passes a game. Well he is honestly the only one who gets open on a bunch of plays. He just runs better routes, has better technique beating physical coverage.

I don't know what is going on with our coaches and their responsibilities. But I say it's a no brainer to hire the best WR coach you can this offseason and have him do just that. Coach WRs.

Watching the Bills offense today, I was super impressed by how much their receivers and tight ends improvise to get open when a play breaks down. Outside of McBride, it seems like our guys mostly just stand around in similar situations.

Well TEs like McBride are a match up nightmare. Linebackers can't keep up with them and cornerback will be over powered.

I believe that the reason K1 looks for him most often is two fold. First he trusts him to be where he's supposed to be. Second he know if he dumps it off quickly to him he's less likely to get hit.

Consider the source. It’s everything else except Kyler.

Interesting comment on the telecast today. McBride said he doesn’t run precise routes. I take that is he finds the soft spot of the route.
