It's a tough call on how much to give him because he is more effective in the run game than pass game. But he does impact games every week you can't discount that. He's going to be a pro bowl S again this year. Would that be 7 years in a row? With a couple more, you're getting close to HOF talk. He's probably already cemented his place in the Cardinals ROH.

BTW, is Adrian Wilson, who was better than Budda, eligible for the hall yet? He should get in eventually.
Well into his eligibility. He played his last game more than 12 years ago. I haven't even seen him appear on a short list. I don't think it's in the Cards for him.

Five Pro Bowls
One first-team All-pro

Don't think he'll make the RoH, either. Who is even in there? The Cards website stops after Kurt Warner, and I know they inducted Carson Palmer in there. Is Larry up there yet?

I guess the basics of the convo is that our defense doesn't look better without Budda than it does with Budda. "Cap space" isn't leading the team in tackles.
Agree. By the time paying Baker becomes an issue for this team he will be calling games for ESPN.
Just pay the man for the next few years and move on with the build.

It’s an interesting question of how much cap space do you want to hold for Budda and Kyzir White and maybe Evan Brown.

Unfortunately for ADub, even more so for his wife, his domestic violence situation doesn't help his reputation. I have never thought he had a chance anyhow. Not well known enough because he played on a lot of bad Cardinals teams. Had he played for Dallas or San Francisco he would probably be in already.

We have cap space out the wazoo. Nobody worries more unnecessarily about cap space than Cardinals fans,

Its absolutely amazing to me. Its like its their money.

Every team has the same cap and this team always has a ton left over and continues to be trash historically.

Yup. We still have $103MM for next season. Only pending FAs I care about are Budda, White, Brown, and Hernandez. All those guys put together won’t cost more than $30 MM I’d guess.

We’d still be in the top 10 of cap space in 2025. Lots of teams have lots of cap room; not sure we’ll be super-active in FA in this environment.

When lots of teams have lots of money that usually runs prices up. Some GM gets scared he may get outbid so he offers some rediculous amount...and everybody else has to pay for it.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report predicted the next NFL extensions to come about, with Baker's name coming up first on the list. Knox thinks the Cardinals will sign their star safety to a two year, $30 million deal with $17 million guaranteed

The luck is being in the right place at the right time.

There is a skill to defenders being in the right place at the right time. It’s called reading an offense. Shocker that the best of those who can do this end up with the most interceptions.

Budda is mostly playing in the box, his opportunities for interceptions are very few.
You realize that last sentence just completely undercuts your argument? Budda plays mostly in the box because he’s a liability in pass defense. Badger played everywhere… great in run and pass support. That’s what made him special when he was healthy.

Exactly. Anyone that says they would take Budda over a healthy HB loses all credibility.

I'd take him today over Buddha, even at 32. He's been pretty darn healthy since he left. Can't believe we let him walk. He rarley comes off the field since he left AZ. Hes also made just under $100 million! Not bad for a pot head!
