We drafted him 2011 after slipping to the 2nd rd because of an injury his last year in college. His redshirt Fr season at VT he rushed for 1,655 yards and 21 TD’s. I remember him being a training camp sensation before tearing his patellar tendon in the first preseason game and it pretty much ended his career. Anyway the Nakobe Dean suffering the same injury reminded me of that. Just a reminder how brutal and unfair this game can be.

Gah! We drafted him in the second round. :barf:

Was he the one the Cards made a web series of his recovery?

I have him mixed up with Andre Ellington.

patella tendon rupture (same a Chase Young, and now, Nakobe Dean of the Eagles)

it seems like those are 10x harder to come back from than an ACL

I've always had a "what if" with both him and Jonathan Cooper -- what if they didn't suffer major injuries in their rookie training camp? Would their careers have turned out differently? Both looked sensational before getting hurt and were never the same after.

Not many come back from a patellar tendon tear. It's just brutal for an NFL player. Didn't Ryan Williams have "Lil' Sweetnes" tatooed on his knee or leg? That kid could have been really good. I remember having such high hopes for him...like so many other Cardinals that didn't pan out.

I remember when the whole team crowded around him on the cart when you could tell the injury was very serious.. could tell his teammates had high hopes for him based on what they saw in training camp.

Patellas are the hardest to come back from, then achilles and then ACL.

I always had a soft spot for him because he was so good before the injury and because I had the same surgery although my first one was partial and I had the full one in 2017. I'm not aware of anybody in sports coming back from that surgery at a high level but maybe I missed someone?

I hope Dean does

I sure do. I feel bad for him to this day. I was pretty certain he was going to be an RB solution for us.

Poor guy.
