Color me very happy about this signing. But I am a little skeptical, I don't want to be, but it seems we are always getting burned on MadBum or Monty. Greinke was not a bust, but his contract eventually hampered us. I hope for the best this time around.

I get that, however, the situations are very different in that Greinke, MadBum and Monty are old than Burnes, who just turned 30 back in October. Additionally, especially in the case of Greinke and MadBum, Burnes has significantly less innings pitched. And of course, Monty has never pitched at the level of Burnes.

All valid points. I guess I can't appreciate good things without thinking sometimes bad will happen. I've been a Phoenix sports fan for so long, I get a little gun shy.

Don't get me wrong...I too feel a little angst. But, if there is one team in the valley that seems to buck the trend of valley teams not being able to enjoy the good things, it's the Dbacks.

Wouldn't he be more like Kurt Schilling? ;) Both were great with us. Just stylistically, I am asking?

Well he is not a lefty but he is a power style pitcher who eats innings.

Ironically he is better against lefties despite being a righty.

I haven't seen him pitch that I can remember. I am ignorant of his skills. Thanks for letting me know he is more like Johnson than Schilling.
