well the lakers are in the NBA and this is an NBA thread right? I mean the doncic trade has only been the biggest sports story in dallas probably since the mavs won a title. I've never seen the mavs highjack the dallas press like they have over the last few weeks. Jerry Jones is probably enjoying a break and having his horrible HC hire basically get ignored.

oh ok. my bad. this is going to be weird for me seeing him in that uniform. I remember when Steve Nash left it was easier to root against him because he chose to leave, not that I blame him for that. I also regret rooting against him because he is one of my favorite players of all time. I do think the NBA is different for me at least where you can root for a player to do well and it can trickle into rooting for a team.

I thought it was classy of Nash to get the Lakers to essentially trade for him and give the Suns some draft capitol for him. He didn't have to do that. He's still one of my favorite players.

The thing about the Suns signing Nash, he offered the Mavericks a chance to match the offer before he left. However, Mark Cuban refused.

Steve Nash wanted to stay in Dallas. The same with Doncic.

It's hard to root against players who didn't want to leave.

I'm fully aware and I blame Mark Cuban for being dumb. I think it helped me move on from Nash when Phoenix eliminated dallas in that first year. Dirk just said on Friday that he and Nash probably would not have progressed in their careers if they were not separated. but he also made the point that the NBA was wide open then and feels that he could have won a title with Nash.

Fans tend to blame stars for not being loyal, but now we are getting a first-hand look at owners not being loyal to their star players.

Maybe the players and owners learn to treat it like a business, but they need to realize fans may not be so understanding.

I was really upset when the Suns let Nash walk and then did a sign-and-trade with the Lakers after being told he would be brought back.

Fans form emotional attachments to certain players. They are part of the equation too.
