    Best available day two

Clark Phillips is an obvious one, but to me it is more important that CB's can cover than getting turnovers. It can also cause a trickle down effect where good coverage can help the pass rushers get home. Look for Joey Porter, Cam Smith, and Phillips early, and later on players like Eli Ricks...

    Best available day two

Very important thing to remember. Many posters judge a pick by Kiper's or Jeremiah's evaluation. They are neither team specific, nor necessarily the same as what other scouts think.

    Best available day two

I agree, Harry. I feel like Joey Porter has very, very good value at this spot, and they could most like find a C, who is also a good value pick, later on - for example with one of their many third round picks. I don't know if you like Porter, but the point is to take the better value here, and...

    Best available day two

Cornerback Joey Porter, Notre Dame. Clearly my favorite pick. Big surprise to me that he did not go as CB3. Day one starter and tonesetter. Edge rusher Derick Hall, Auburn. Fits Gannon- and Rallis' (presumable) scheme very well. Center Steve Avila, TCU. Very strong. Could be day one starter...

    10 thoughts - draft - first round

I forgot to answer this, Slanidrac. Yes, I would too, but I would feel better about it if they have moved out of the top 10. The rumors seems to be going toward them taking an offensive tackle. Several analysts, that I trust, have mocked Paris Johnson to the Cards at three, and other have given...

I have thought about that too, CCF. Just let him be part of the solution. Same with Budda Baker. Give him a new contract.

    Okay, I didn't see it. :)

    10 thoughts - draft - first round

You know, Slanidrac, it is just a gut feeling, so don’t put much into it, but I also feel that they will end up with Nolan Smith I don’t know about him. Could you share a little?

    10 thoughts - draft - first round

1 – How will Ossenfort approach the draft? Will he be like John Schneiders’ “we are smarter than everyone else,” or will he be Belichick’s “I don’t give a f*** about players’ value at different spots,” or Keim’s (post-Nkemdiche) “if you are not a team captain, you are off our board”? 2 – If...

    Gandhi mock draft

One of the issues is Murray's contract that makes it very difficult to trade him, or even cut him, after next sesaon, because it would give a massive cap hit, and thus prevent the team from using that money in other ways. While the cap is easy to get around, you cannot ignore it, so it would be...

    Gandhi mock draft

Garth, there are small chatter that they could target one of the top quarterbacks next year - and thus consider this season lost, but as is sort of an investment. Do you believe it? I am not sure, but they have certainly not done anything to show otherwise so far in the offseason.

    Gandhi mock draft

Snake, I strongly considered taking Karl Brooks, defensive lineman out of Bowling Green, with my last third- or fourth round pick. I like him a lot, and I would not be against it if they did end up with three d-linemen in the draft.

And they were excited, if I remember the report correct.

I don't count out that Benton could go in the first round, Krang. There are surprises every year.

    Gandhi mock draft

Again this year I participated in a mock draft game (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/americanfootball/gm-mock-2023-drafttr-den-t2050.html) with co-GM’s from all 32 teams. My main goal in the draft was to stabilize the Cards. To raise the floor. Stop the bleeding. In my opinion, that should be...

Yes, but it is a misunderstanding that it means anything.

    Free Agency

What? Being better than others is not a good enough characteristic for a player? I don't really understand. I would like that the Cards have the best possible players.

    Free Agency

I would say probably Dupree, ROC. Clowney could without a doubt have been dominating, but he has never really been that, I think, and it seems too late now. He could be a good complement to someone, though. In many ways I think that Dupree and Clowney are the same type of player, only that...

As well as having been an All Pro. This is the definition of high risk-high reward, as I mentioned. :) Have you look at the depth chart, recently? :) Bud Depree would be the best edge rusher immediately.

    Free Agency

The last couple of days, both edge rusher Bud Dupree, and cornerback Byron Jones was realesed by the Titans and Dolphins respectively. Ossenfort was involved in signing Dupree in Tennessee, and Jones would be a very high risk-high reward signing after missing all of last season, and still not...

    Cards sign OL Hjalte Froholdt

Yes, but I know almost nothing about Froholdt. :)

    Free Agency

It is absolutely real. Dr. Jones said that it could easily be manipulated, but not that it is not real. You can't simply ignore the salary cap. It is just easy to get around it.

Maybe, Harry, but that is true for any positions. If you have studs, you keep them.
