    What they're saying in SF

A little pessimism: "Martz's offenses the last five seasons not only haven't won, they've produced more turnovers than touchdowns. I don't see how that can be avoided this year, unless J.T. O'Sullivan turns into Warner and Martz has a brilliant season game-planning and play-calling." - NINER...

2008 Cardinals Wins and Losses - Time to go on record

9-7 if healthy, 7-9 if we get a case of the injury bug. Hedging, I know.

    Doucet

We didn't see a whole lot of him in the preseason. I know he was injured, but I'm wondering if there's more to it. Remember, Boldin's rookie year McGinnis and crew hid him and then unleashed the Quan vs the Lions. Last I checked (and its been a while) Doucet wasn't even the number 3...

Roy Williams (Dallas) finally being called out

Remember his rookie year? The Cards played the Cowboys, and though he played well he was totally eclipsed by Wilson. Wilson had like two sacks and an interception on three consecutive plays (something like that). Still, ESPN didn't even mention Wilson's performance and Williams got...

    A Tale of Two Drafts

As the Cards were drafting for depth, I didn't see this draft as a big disappointment. I don't know that a single draft pick would have started on this team where we were drafting. To speak specifically to the Doucett pick, apart from Caldwell (I believe he was still on the board) there...

If he's there for our 7th pick....

That's the danger of posting threads like these. ;)

If he's there for our 7th pick....

do you take Andre Woodson. I liked what I saw from him last year and I think it's a good idea to take a developmental QB every couple of years. Greenbay and others have done a good job of coaching up late round QBs and enhancing their trade value. Just a thought.

    Highlights of Hightower

Looked good, color me impressed. Wouldn't it be cool if the Cards were the next team to find that unheralded but awsome late round back? A Jamal Anderson or Terrell Davis in the desert.

    Official 2008 NFL Draft Thread

I'm cool with this pick. He's a better receiver than anyone on our team after the top two. Could eventually be our #2. This makes the team better.

    Barr

Yep, Player tackled like a fairy.

    Barr

Remember, the game before Player was cut he tried to make one of his pathetic tackle attempts on a punt return. He was a liability in those situations.

    Leonard PPPPOPE

Being a South Carolina fan I got to see that guy way too much. He was a beast at Georgia and I was glad to draft him.

    Leonard PPPPOPE

For what it's worth, Bieneman (sp?) had a great day blocking in the run game.

    LaBrandon Toefield

He was pretty damned good at LSU. Hurt his last year so his stock dropped.

I am Prepared to be bashed

If you're buyin, I'm stylin. I'll take a Stella Artois.

I am Prepared to be bashed

Maybe. I'm of the opinion that a real fan can't just turn of being a fan of their team. It becomes engrained in your DNA.

I am Prepared to be bashed

Keep in mind, that there is a right way and wrong way to criticize the team. The culture of this board is averse to the pat arguments you hear from the average "fan." Complain that the Cards will always suck as long as the "Bidwells" own the team, and you'll get flamed. Complain about the D not...

    I don't believe it.

Demoting a first rounder is putting your money where your mouth is in my book. It's smart too (in this case) unlike the demotions Denny used to hand out.

    Cards close to signing Brown?

Wake me up when he's here.

    3-4 defense? Try 3-3-5

South Carolina had a bumper crop of running backs one year. The next year, Lou Holtz brought in two RBs better than all of the others. So, he converted all of those RBs to DBs and switched to a 3-3-5. It worked well for them for a couple of years. That system works especially well when you...

    Suns Fans and the Refs

My guess would be that the pistons established themselves as the team of destiny throughout the season. Momentum was on their side. ANother thing to keep in mind is that refs tend to swallow their whistles in the playoffs which benefits half court teams(or at least teams with dominant big...

    Suns Fans and the Refs

Nope, you were right then. The Lakers did get all of the calls. Spurs get calls because the refs give more leeway to Championship teams or super stars. If they see contact, but can't devine who initiated it, they'll blow the whistle in favor of the Duncan's of this world. It's always been...

The official past decade of mediocrity, All Crap Team!!!!

Throw in Tony McCoy at DT, that was a disaster. Or just look at 90% of the team fielded in 2000. Damn, that was sorry.
