    Super Bowl LVIII (58)

You're making my point for me. Spending a lot to move up just one to three picks absolutely sucks and puts your job in jeopardy. And most of the time the QB fails. The price was too high to move up for an unknown. If Keim had moved up for someone else, he loses his job. You can't move up every...

    Super Bowl LVIII (58)

You can do it, obviously, but the results are more likely than not to be absolute garbage. My point over the years is that we may have offered to trade up but neither team was taking a third rounder for us to move up a couple of slots when they had firsts on the table. So either we could have...

    Super Bowl LVIII (58)

Thing is, I wasn't wrong. I wanted to draft Mahomes or Watson and the vast majority of the board disagreed, saying the QB class was garbage. I'm just a realist. I know you can't send a 1st to move up a few spots at that point in the draft, and if we'd done so for Watson or Trubisky, we'd be...

Because you can't give up a 1st round pick to move up one to three spots for a QB, you might end up with Zach Wilson or worse.

Washington Commanders (not Raiders) hire Kliff as OC

Kliff isn't necessarily a bad person, but Kyler rejected him twice. KK believed in his talent, but then overdrafted him and basically forced him to be in the club. I firmly don't think Kyler would have been the top pick in the draft without Kingsbury at the helm. And I don't know that he's...

    Top Right Cardinals Picture

This sadly does remind me of the years when we had no one of value and therefore our 1st round pick was probably the most exciting person to come onto the roster. I've wanted one of the new jerseys but there's no one I feel like I like enough. Kinda feels that way if we get MHJ. Probably would...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

I was pounding the table for years explaining that we were dead last in the NFL and got thrown all kinds of excuses from people. Yeesh.

    Ossenfort and Free Agency

Not to speak for him, but the risk is that he left the Falcons due to depression before he even got in trouble for gambling. He just left. I'm someone who struggles with depression, but I'm aware I'm a risk. If I stacked it with a risk of permanent suspension from my industry due to gambling...

    Round One Conundrums

Sure, but you could also sit here and tell me that we should pass on MHJ because we're certain to get our own Puka Nacua. It's a complete outlier that Kyren hit for them. We haven't drafted a regular starter at any position in the 4th round or further since 2015. And RBs in the 4th and beyond...

    Round One Conundrums

Mid is fine to describe him. I didn't call Conner terrible at any moment. He's simply somewhere in the middle of the league, or maybe slightly on the back half. For example, I'd rather have the RB room of anyone else in our division over ours. The Rams don't have much depth but I think Kyren...

    Round One Conundrums

More often than not though, you find Keontay Ingram though. https://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/rb Just take a look at the list of relative nobodies post round 4 that are on this list.

    Round One Conundrums

Right on, I wasn't sure. Some posters here are vehement that great, productive RBs are available on day 3 every year. And that's more like a 10% hit rate, if I'm being generous.

    Round One Conundrums

One good season doesn't change that he's almost 30, has never once played close to a full season, and has exactly one 1,000 yard rushing year. He's okay, but is never going to break a long one, and can pretty much always be upgraded upon. He should be part of a committee, not a feature back.

    Ossenfort and Free Agency

I really think we need an outside threat more than anything, but Boyd is good enough. Ridley's probably the correct kind of gamble for us to make since we can't guarantee getting MHJ. But it all comes down to price. I wonder if he'd agree to a contract heavily tied to incentives like playing...

    Bears Current Posture

I mean it'd also be Same Old Cardinals to run it back with the "Big Red Line" plan from 2001 or whatever. (Not that I'm endorsing Beachum as the guy.) I've said it in other threads but drafting an LT seems like a vote of no confidence in PJJ almost immediately. Especially when we could have had...

    Round One Conundrums

No, no. But, we have three third rounders and I think we'd be silly to completely dismiss the concept of drafting say Brooks, Benson, or Corum if they were there. Conner is getting very long in the tooth and probably doesn't have much left. Carter is pretty meh and would be a non-factor if...

Fletcher Cox is going to retire so I guess cross out everyone. Most of those listed are pretty solid guys IMO.

    Round One Conundrums

Do you mean ever? Or just this year because of Conner and a lesser RB draft class? Reminder, Conner is close to 30 and right near the standard cliff for RBs. The numbers show that the vast majority of starting RBs in the league were drafted in the 3rd round or higher. At the start of 2023 only...

    Round One Conundrums

I don't feel like he does. He's maybe the most talked about player, but a lot of that has to do with whether or not he's that good. Since I don't live in Phoenix, I don't hear a lot of people talking about Kyler, or needing to look out for him in our next matchup.

    Round One Conundrums

I don't throw the word around that much. You're right that it's been a while since someone touted as "generational" panned out, but the on field talent, the measurable physical talent, and the pro pedigree all point in the right direction. But I will point to someone like Ja'Maar Chase being a...

    Round One Conundrums

I think I'm pessimistic because I see a generational talent in MHJ, someone I expect to dominate the league for a long time and break records... and sure, having a tandem of good tackles is a good thing, but you just don't invest that kind of capital at RT. It feels like spinning our wheels to...

    Round One Conundrums

I don't mind those picks in the top 3 but I'm going to be flatly mad if we invested the #6 overall pick last year on a guy who can't switch to LT and already needs to be replaced. I think it's just a very big mistake to hope our offense can succeed with say, Xavier Worthy as our top WR.

    Round One Conundrums

Not better options per se, but a better allocation of resources. And I'm really unsure how you can be fine with the offense we put out there in the final stretch with Kyler. Plenty of games where we barely managed production, or if we did, it was in absolute garbage time after being blown out...
