CBS Projects Vikes Trade Up Costs Including W/Cards

I tend to agree - if they trade up to #4, they'll probably pay a slight premium over the draft chart value. If the Cardinals were in position for one of the top two QBs, I think their pick would fetch a much higher premium. With Jefferson and Addison already on their roster? I doubt that...

I'm pretty sure Josh Jacobs is the guy driving the ATV, not the one flipping off the motorcycle. Edit: Yep, Jacobs confirms. Yet if you Google "Josh Jacobs falls off motorbike", you'll find dozens of sources who repeated the claim, including NFL insiders and semi-legitimate news outlets...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Wow, I know people are essentialy saying that they don't want to trade down at all unless it's for a preposterous return... but this would be a preposterous return. Per the Draftek trade value chart, the difference between #4 and #6 is 200 points. The Giants' 3rd rounder, #70, is worth 240...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

In a trade down to #6 with the Giants for a QB, the Chargers (or someone trading up with them) could take Harrison or Odunze at #5, but one of them would be guaranteed to be available at #6. But yeah, trading down any father leaves no guarantees. Hopefully Ossenfort would have a trade back up...

This is entirely incorrect. It has everything to do with whether a player is worth the value of a huge contract. The fact that it's difficult to predict doesn't change that fact. But if players acquired via the draft suffer long-term injuries, they don't saddle the team with huge salary cap...

    Today’s Draft Rumor

Brown has a career 11.6 yards per reception (12.1 with Baltimore), a 59.6% catch rate, and a 4.4% drop rate. In 2023 he was 28th of 81 qualifying receivers in average depth of target, 47th in yards before catch per reception (not surprisingly, Rondale Moore was last!), and 34th best in drop %...

Just a reminder about the historical success rate of signing Big Johns. I originally posted this back in September based on these articles by Mike Sando in the Athletic. Sando listed the top 11 free agent signings of 2022 and 2023 by APY. I'd say the majority of teams deeply regret these...

No, no... the Cardinals made a terrible trade down 21 years ago, so now every conceivable trade down is automatically a horrible idea and "Same Old Cards", don't you know?

    Interesting - this seemed like light compensation for the Vikings to get from 42 all the way to 23, but it almost exactly matches the Draftek trade value chart: #23 + #232 = 760 + 1 = 761; #42 + #188 + 2025 2nd = 480 + 16.2 + 270 = 766.2. (My understanding is that teams consider a pick next...

Exactly... it will be quite the high stakes poker game. Maybe Ossenfort believes that the Patriots aren't really willing to take that risk, and calls their bluff.

Welcome to the board, @Shane! You must be new here. Personally I don't watch enough college football to have an opinion, other than what I read here and on The Athletic and what I hear on sports radio... so while it seems as though failing to make the moves to ensure getting Harrison Jr. would...

Not sure how realistic it is for a team to jump the Cards and take MHJ at #3, but at this point everyone knows the Cards need a WR and covet MHJ, so at the very least the Patriots have to threaten to trade out and try to get something from the Cardinals. Whether the Cards give up a 3rd or call...

Thanks for weighing in with your much more relevant experience as an NFL GM! Interesting distinction in attitudes / expectations of what would've / could've / should've happened if Ossenfort had tried to improve the team more last offseason: @Ouchie-Z-Clown (responding to @Krangodnzr) thinks it wouldn't have made a significant difference and wouldn't have dropped the...
