Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

The Cardinals were 4-13 last year.

Desmond Howard! He did have an 11-year NFL career, primarily as a returner, but finished with only 1597 receiving yards.

    CBS Projecting Murray Trade

You said it right there... the theory, with which half of the board will disagree, is that the Cards can't be successful until they move on from Murray. If Ossenfort agrees, I think it would be a coup for him to get that much draft compensation for him. The opportunity is perfect to move on...

    CBS Projecting Murray Trade

"Bears get: No. 74 overall (third-round pick), and a conditional 2025 third-round pick that becomes a second-round pick if Fields plays 75% of the 2024 snaps". It's the Raiders who get Fields and a 6th. But given their contracts and recent performance, it seems more likely to me that the...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Ideally the Cards could trade from #2 back to #3, pick up an extra #1, and still get MHJ... but if the draft order stays as-is & the Patriots trade up from #3 to #1, the Cards could be stuck either taking Harrison at #2 or trading down below the Bears & missing out on him. There will definitely...

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

Yeah, 14 games into a 17 game season just isn't nearly enough for you to admit you're wrong. I'm sure you have a much bigger sample size to support your claim.

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

Wrong. Conner has 50 rushes and a 5.7 yard average when the Cardinals are leading and 59 rushes with a 4.8 yard average when they're trailing. Overall, the Cardinals have 102 rushes with a 4.7 yard average when leading and 194 / 4.9 when trailing.

FWIW, this site uses a comprehensive injury database and machine learning using 1000 variables to predict injury risk for NFL players. Coming into the season they had Michael Wilson rated as "Very low risk". Sometimes the probabilities are in your favor, but luck isn't.

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

Maybe you've described the offense Murray needs to be successful in the NFL. People here keep bashing Kingsbury, but Murray improved every year in that "gimmick" offense, reaching top 10 in QBR and passer rating in 2021, before everything imploded. Since then, he's been bottom 5.

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

Yes, the Cardinals are at a HUGE weekly disadvantage because of their defense. But I was only responding to the part of your post that I quoted: "Murray isn't playing well, but I can't pretend that he has talent around him. A combo of Hollywood and Wilson just isn't NFL caliber." The...

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

Lamar Jackson was league MVP in 2019 with Hollywood leading the WR corps with 584 yards and some guys named Willie Snead (339 yards) and Seth Roberts (271) filling out the WR corps. Of course, they had Mark Andrews and his 852 yards as well. Murray has Hollywood, despite injuries on a pace for...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

In the latest projection from The Athletic following week 14, the Cardinals remain in the #2 spot. In fact, the top four did not change since last week. Their model may have Arizona with fractionally fewer projected wins than New England, but as we know, if they end up with the same record, the...

Is Kyler Murray the answer at QB for next year and beyond?

As I've posited before, if the Cardinals trade down in 2024 and accumulate 2025 draft assets, it may be a sign that they're hedging on Murray, and leaving the option open to trade up for a top QB in the 2025 draft.

    The 2023-24 league year

Well, the slope is depicted as 1 by virtue of how the numbers on the axes are scaled. But yes, since "success rate" is simply the percentage of plays with a positive EPA, one would expect most teams to plot close to a straight line on these graphs. A team well above the line would have a...

As expected, after New England and so many 4-win teams won in week 14, the Cards solidified their hold on a pick between #2 and #4 during their bye week. Pick Your Draft Approach

You may be right, but Washington seems to be happy with Howell, Chicago might decide to stick with Fields, the Jets probably won't take a QB with Rodgers coming back next season, and the Giants would have to admit a huge mistake by taking a QB after signing Jones to a big extension just last year.

Too early to talk free agency?

Dortch seems to be a more versatile route runner and have much better hands - but Brown ran a 4.27 40 at his pro day while Dortch ran 4.59 at the Combine. I get your point about only keeping one small WR, but they aside from their stature they are not really comparable or interchangeable players...
