    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Here are The Athletic's updated projections after week 10: Looks as though the Giants and Panthers -> Bears almost locks for #1 and #2 in some order, with a full 1 game gap in projected wins before the Patriots and Cards; then almost another full game gap to the Bears. Of course, now that...

Week 9 Snap Counts and some thoughts

It would be trivial for them to adjust. It's inane to count a kneel down as a "running play" for -1 yards to the QB, or a spike as an "incomplete pass play", when they're clearly not intended to be "plays" but simply clock burning / stopping moves that could be accomplished in a more...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Thanks for the correction! But he still meets the criteria of @cheesebeef's post to which I was replying - WRs who produced on multiple teams lately. And if rather than trading for him, Buffalo had waited until he was a FA and given him the same contract, he would've had just as much success...

Week 9 Snap Counts and some thoughts

That's how I would do it. Yeah, no false start possibility but then, you're not really trying to run a football play, you're just trying to stop the clock, so why make it look like an "incomplete pass" play? Just always seemed silly to me.

Week 9 Snap Counts and some thoughts

I understood the distinction starting with your first post, but I don't see any validity to your take. If for some reason Murray were completely unwilling or unable EVER to run a tush push play, it would not have one iota of impact on whether he's qualified to be the QBOF. Any number of other...

Week 9 Snap Counts and some thoughts

Good point - I meant to include that factor in my alternative to the spike play, and have edited my post. A team wouldn't get a fixed number of timeouts - it could buy a 30 second timeout at the cost of a down. Just line up and signal the official, don't bother going through the motions of a...

    10 thoughts - Falcons game

Gotta go with @BritCard's suggestion of "Big Play" Trey! Yeah, but then Conner runs into the end zone on first down from the 9 with 47 seconds left, rather than falling down at the 2. Or he scores on 2nd down. As someone who started him on a fantasy team I was very annoyed because it was...

Week 9 Snap Counts and some thoughts

Within the rules only since 2005, when the language prohibiting pushing a runner was inexplicably removed from the rule book. I'd like to see the prohibition restored. It's a boring play with an almost certain outcome. On an entirely different note, the rule to allow spiking the ball to stop...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Agree with the premise but... Have to add Diggs to the (small) group of FA WRs who have been worth the money to their second team! [EDIT: As @kerouac9 pointed out, Diggs was acquired via trade.) T.O. with the Cowboys, despite his off-field antics. (OT: CTE?) And Golden Tate was pretty good...

Thursday Night Football Bears v. Panthers

I see that Smith had 2 targets, 1 reception, 1 yard, and 0 TDs. Oof. Meanwhile Pitts had 5 targets, 3 receptions, 30 yards, and 0 TDs. Somehow, stopping TEs seems to be the one thing the Cardinals D does best.

Thursday Night Football Bears v. Panthers

Beware - the Cardinals are still the 6th-best D vs. opposing TEs.

What Are the Cards Looking for From Murray’s Start?

I'd also like to see him interacting with his coaches when he's on the sideline, rather than sitting by himself.

What Are the Cards Looking for From Murray’s Start?

Yes! It's nice being able to go to the occasional game and commiserate with other Cards fans - even if they're otherwise insufferable! Thanks! I seem to be better at finding the facts to contradict others' opinions, than at having correct opinions of my own! Oh, I wasn't basing the...

Have you been watching the NFL since the Cards' last championship? Because the average score of all teams in all games this year is 21.7. It's been between 20.3 and 24.8 every year in the last 30 years, and has averaged between 20.0 and 22.9 in every 10-year period starting with 1945...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Yeah, but after Murray was below average in the 2nd half of 2021, most of 2022, and in this scenario, most of 2023 - so bad that the Cardinals are willing to eat an enormous cap hit to get rid of him - what GM in his right mind is going to want him and his $50M/year contract AND to give up a #1...

Can This Roster Be Playoff Level in a Year?

The 2022.5 - 2023.5 Cardinals are arguably not much better or worse than the 2018 Wilks team. That team added rookie Murray in the off-season and by 2020 was a playoff contender and in 2021 a playoff participant. The current team, starting from a similar nadir talent-wise, will add a more...

What Are the Cards Looking for From Murray’s Start?

I agree that it was devestating and would love to see it - but I think 2020 Murray was already retired in 2021, and we'll never see that guy again. 2021 Murray with had 30 yards per game at 4.8 per rush, and I suspect that would be a good, perhaps ambitious, goal for 2023. 2022 Murray with 38...

Vikings' new QB Joshua Dobbs named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Can't say Dobbs doesn't deserve some accolades, but... CJ Stroud?!? 470 yards and 5 TDs including a 75-yard game-winning drive with 46 seconds remaining? EDIT: D'OH, I missed the "NFC" part! :bang:

Cardinals 5-round mock draft: Trading down for Olu Fashanu allows Arizona to build around Kyler Murray

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Here's The Athletic's updated projections after week 9: What a difference a week makes - Daniel Jones going down and Murray returning gives the Giants the best odds at the #1 pick, and drops the Cardinals to #3, where at least they're set up to take Harrison Jr.

You mean Arthur Smith? Or Blank for still having Smith as his HC? Yeah I thought Smith had the reputation of one of the most run-oriented head coaches in the league. I'd expect him to go back to those ways this week.

Atlanta Falcons @ Arizona Cardinals Pre Game Thread. 11/5/23-11/11/23

That's an ideal scenario from the perspective of trading down with the Giants for a nice bounty and still taking Harrison Jr. The Giants could drive a hard bargain knowing that the Cardinals wouldn't really want to trade down below the third pick, but I'd still expect at least a 2025 #1 and more.
