2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

I cannot wrap my head around this scenario. Drafting a non-prospect for the soul reason of praying to sign his 40 year old dad... unreal. A level of pathetic desperation without parallel. If we draft him and DON'T sign LeBron, it will go down as one of the most idiotic and embarrassing...

NBA Finals Boston vs Dallas (poll)

I saw him in person while he was on the Knicks and he was extremely impressive. Suns somehow won in OT but he could seemingly do everything. Score from any range, an eraser on defense. I think he got his first injury a few weeks later. Big time “what if” guy.

If it is a dude who took a small or run of the mill program and turned it into a monster despite not getting top tier recruits, like Stevens at Butler or Jay Wright at Villanova, that is a college coach I'd be excited to roll the dice on. On the otherhand... these dudes who take over a program...

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40289529/sources-lakers-preparing-massive-offer-uconn-dan-hurley That is rather unexpected. Big risk going after a college coach. Not sure how we got from "The Lakers view JJ Reddick as the next Pat Riley" to here.

I disagree. The Nets had zero leverage and I fully expect they would have either caved or things would have gotten even more toxic as Durant sat out the rest of the season and made it clear he'd never play for them again... forcing an even lesser deal in the summer. But... at this point, IMO...

Mike Budenholzer - Officially Suns new Head Coach

KD doesn't want to play off the ball. He wants to run his inefficient slow iso game. The offensive style was dictated by the players.

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

Mavs built a balanced team, they have star power, they have a ton of role players who embrace it... I think they fall to Boston, who have built an even more balanced team despite less star power. If Portzingis is healthy, I think Boston wins in 5. If Boston wins, they will do so without a top...

Mike Budenholzer - Officially Suns new Head Coach

I disagree entirely. For one, Beal isn't part of a big 'anything' at this stage of his career, and he's never been a defender. Secondly, Booker, while not being a defensive stalwart by any sense of the imagination, was better than pretty much any guard we featured other than Okogie. Beal...

Caleb Love just pulled out of the draft, Sanon probably wasn't going to see the court for a year.

    RIP: Bill Walton (1952-2024)

That stuff always slayed me. He'd be calling a Pac 12 game in January, Oregon is like 11-10 on the season but they've just gone on a 10 point run to take a slim lead against Cal... "The Oregon Ducks are a great basketball team and the way they are playing right now, NO ONE can beat them! They...

Suns trade ideas for the 2024-25 season

The Denver trade would be very on brand, Durant looking to join a team he can't beat. One year with KD and Jokic probably decides to raise horses... if those picks are not protected they could be gold The Warriors... I wish. I think the Warriors are well aware of their position and wouldn't gut...

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

We do have picks, that is correct. But they've all got multiple pick swaps attached so we will likely pick in the 20s no matter what. We don't control a pick until 2031.

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

Hmm... that is a tough call. Michael Beasley was both, extremely terrible AND extremely toxic. It's hard to find a comparison because teams have figured out that a terrible shooter who shoot's a ton and doesn't defend is probably a huge detriment. He didn't repeatedly beat women... which gives...

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

I get it, I've previously been a "the middle is the worst place to be" mindset, but it's because the middle deprives you of the potential reward you get from being terrible. But, as I keep saying, we don't control our pick for 7 years. If my options are: "Fight for a playoff spot and try to...

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

He's a defensive small forward in an undersized point guard's body. Poor man's Josh Okogie. He probably wouldn't be drafted at all if not for the connection. He should be staying in college.

    Suns 2024-2025 Season Discussions

He's been a vet min guy for a while now. Problem with him is that you can't have him on the court in any important moment, he is quite possibly the worst free throw shooter in league history.

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

If we trade Booker in a year we will be. A bunch of min salary guys and some picks a couple picks in the 20s every 2 years will add up to a team that wins under 20 games a season. Sure, at some point they should have free agent money, but the roster will be in worse shape than when we had to...

Disagree. We’re voluntarily becoming the worst team in the league for the better part of the decade in and only real benefactors will be the teams who own our picks.

    The 2024 NBA playoffs thread

We can't blow it up entirely, it's simply not an option without controlling our picks. Even in the years we do have a pick, they're leveraged so much through swaps that we probably won't draft higher than the 20s for the next 7 years, even if we're the worst team in the league year after year...

    RIP: Bill Walton (1952-2024)

When he first started announcing I couldn't stand him, the rambling and the over the top hyperbole, but he really grew on me, became one of my absolute favorites. The rambling usually had a moral to the story that would somehow relate to basketball and the hyperbole was just hilarious. You could...

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

Obviously, if he wants to sign for the minimum, you do it. But I think it would play out more like the geriatric, mishmash, toxic team the Lakers built in 2021/22 than an actual contender.

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

At least we’d get the joy of watch him ham up every flop and foul as a potentially career ending injury and the drama free experience of a LeBron and KD led team. How long would it take for those two to stop speaking to each other entirely? 2 months?
