    2024 Texans pick watch thread

What if PJJ is a five-time Pro Bowl player as well? If both Anderson and PJJ are Pro Bowl players with comparable star status at their positions, who is the "better" player and which team got the "better" of the trade? The bottom line is that both players had good, but not great rookie years...

    For draft talk reference

In fairness to the Brown's offense and Stefanski, the Browns were down to their 4th and 5th offensive tackles, their second running back, and their second QB. If they had all or some of these starters, I would assume that Stefanski's passing and running game would look a lot better.

    2024 Texans pick watch thread

I don't agree with the implication that an elite EDGE player intrinsically has more value than an elite OT. Their relative value is arguable with one player protecting the QB and one player sacking the QB. It's the same argument with cornerback verses wide receiver. The two positions are...

    Round One Conundrums

Ha! Good catch on Jordan Peterson. Adrian Peterson also has definite views on child psychology, so you can understand my confusion.

    Round One Conundrums

You can argue all day about the relative impact of elite players like Sewell and Chase, but it's not the choice between Sewell and Chase type players that hurts a team in the long run. It's the decision to draft a journeyman player like Levi Brown when an elite player like Jordan Peterson is...

Snap Counts + Thoughts: Week 18 vs Seahawks

I kind of agree with Chopper here. You get the most bang for your bucks in free agency by bringing in the lower value positions such as running back, inside linebacker, center, guard, inside linebacker. Your limited cap dollars go further this way.

    Ossenfort and Free Agency

How do you know that one or more of our rookies won't develop into a star player in year 2 or 3 in league? Last year no one thought that Trey McBride was going to develop into a player with star potential in year 2. Isn't it possible that Michael Wilson, PJJ, Garrett Williams, Ojulari, or...

    Ossenfort and Free Agency

I don't see us drafting 2 WR's early. Probably one early and one in round 3 or later.

    Cards Pick 4th

I think Williams, Maye and Daniels will go in the top 3 picks unless Washington or New England sign Kirk Cousins in free agency. Someone is going to sign him as their starting QB and it might not be Minny. I think this is a definite possibility and it would probably mean one of these teams...

    The 2023-24 league year

Off Topic: It means that K-9 doesn't like Elon Musk's change at Twitter where people have to pay to be credentialed with a blue check. Musk put the check on a pay basis as opposed to in the past when Twitter arbitrarily decided who received a credentialed check without charging any fees.

    Cards Pick 4th

We have 5 of the top 71 draft picks and 13 picks overall. Gotta get 4 starters and at least a couple of depth players out of this haul for it to be considered a successful draft. Add in 3-4 starters in free agency and we're a playoff contender.

    Cards Pick 4th

When all is said and done I think the first three picks will be QB's. I wouldn't be surprised to see Daniels go ahead of May. If the Bears stay with Fields over Williams they deserve to wallow in mediocrity, which is what they will do.

    Another Strange Disappearance

Howard Balzer is reporting that it involved a personal matter with Strong it was handled amicably with the team personnel people. Also said that there's a chance that he rejoins the team in the offseason.

It's 2024...Who's Worthy of Being Brought Back

Leki Fotu's last two games before his injury were actually very good. I don't know if "the light just came on" or his understanding the scheme improved, but he looked significantly better to me. Prior to those games I didn't think he was worth keeping.

    Bears Current Posture

How dare you refer to my esteemed opinion as "nonsense", when it is based on empirical evidence and my shrewd evaluation of QB play ;)

    Bears Current Posture

Keeping Fields would be a mistake for the Bears. He's an A+ as a running QB, but a C+ as a passer. He just doesn't have the arm talent or field execution to be a top tier QB.
  17. Card'em

Losing the lower pick surely sucks.

I would be shocked if the Bears stick with Fields and pass on Williams with the first pick. Fields will never be a top tier starting QB because of his lack of arm talent. He might be a second tier(15-32) ranked starter, but that's his ceiling in my opinion.

Cardinals at Eagles gameday thread 12-31-23

I thought Krys Barnes had a nice game yesterday. He flashed on quite a few plays and showed good speed. He's young at 25 years old and should be resigned as a quality depth player or starter at ILB for next season.

    Way-too-early Monti Ossenfort Performance Review

I've listened to JV's and Bo Brak's podcasts and appreciate their in depth coverage of the Cardinals, but yes, he's sometimes guilty of irrational exuberance.

Arizona Cardinals @ Pittsburgh Steelers Pregame thread. 11/26/23-12/2/23

Ingram is not an NFL quality backup running back. I think Demarcado and Michael Carter can serve as legitimate backup and third string running backs. It's not game over when you have to play them, like it was with Ingram. Another case for the Cardinal's of addition by subtraction.

Cardinals at Texans gameday thread 11-19-23

I'm not a fan of Marco Wilson, but our lack of a pass rush does no favors for our defensive backs. We just don't have the talent to mount a consistent pass rush. The difference in the pressure that Kyler faced verses the lack of pressure on Stroud was a major factor in the passing game for...

The Positive Kyler Murray News Thread

    Rookie Class

You may be right on your projection for Stills, but I don't agree with your take on Williams, Wilson and Ojulari. My bet is that all three will prove to be NFL starters. Time will tell.

    Rookie Class

It's starting to look like Ossenfort had a very good first draft. With Ojulari, Stills, and Williams getting significant playing time on the defensive side, and Wilson and Johnson making contributions on the offense, we may have 5 or more future starters from this draft class. I've always...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Targeting high cost, premium position players in free agency is a fools errand. You're going to have to commit big contracts to wide receivers, left tackles, cornerbacks, or edge rushers. I just think it's better strategy to target these positions in the draft, and use the draft for the...
