Time to Burn It All Down

I don't think people are defending the signing of Conner. The amount given to Connor was ridiculous, but here we are. Why cut him to save $2MM next year when we'd have to spend money on a free agent or a draft choice to replace him? Like others, I say wait until next year when we don't have...

    Are Cards tanking?

Yep...change is coming and I for one am all for it. Started with the new coach and GM and now we get a new roster.

Who will be the Cardinals' starting QB to begin the season

    Shocker....Kyler Murray.

    Are Cards tanking?

The plan will be very apparent when we finish the season at 4 and 13.

    Week 10 Cardinals Off-season: 03/13/2023-03/19/2023

JJ Watt played hockey for team Wisconsin when he was a kid and my kid played against him when St. Louis played Wisconsin. Even as an 11 year old JJ was huge. He made my kid look like a midget. Team Wisconsin wasn't very good, but JJ was a star.

    Free Agency

Yea, the Humphrey's restructure just doesn't jive with the Cardinals early response to free agency. Restructuring frees up today's cap dollars by deferring the player's cap cost to future years, which is a strategy for "win now" teams. The Cardinals don't appear to be in a win now mode, so it's...

Rapoport: Cardinals trading out of #3 very very likely

It's the ole "guilty until proven innocent" approach for a new coach and general manager. Why not, it worked with the witches in Salem, Mass.

    Free Agency

I don't understand the complaining. Would you rather see Nick Vigil or Tanner Vallejo at linebacker?

    Free Agency

i'm just guessing that they want 3 off-ball linebackers for a 4-3 alignment at times.

    Week 10 Cardinals Off-season: 03/13/2023-03/19/2023

Not surprised at all with the Kyzir White signing. I figured they'd go after one of the two Eagle linebackers. They get someone they trust and who knows Gannon's defense. Should help on the field and in the locker room. Not an earthshattering signing, but we gotta start somehwere.

    Free Agency

After hearing Gannon talk glowingly about Humphreys today, I think I'd add him to the list of core players on offense.

Zac Allen and Byron Murphy are free agents

Despite the fan poll, I still don't think GM's around the league would have seen enough from Allen to sign him after his first three years. Obviously, at this point I wish they would have had the foresight to sign him, but I just don't think it was a reasonable expectation at the time.

    Week 9 Cardinals Off-season: 03/06/2023-03/12/2023

It's way early, but I really like some of these new coaches.

Zac Allen and Byron Murphy are free agents

I don't think any team in the NFL would have signed Allen after his 3rd season, following a year in which he had a significant ankle injury, and his first two seasons were only "meh". This is really using hindsight after a very good 2022 season to go back in time and say he should have been...

Ian Rapoport Dhop trade likely happening in the next ten days

I'd be happy with a second and a mid rounder, but it still creates a gapping hole in another position group. Add WR to the O-Line, D-Line, Cornerback and Running Back positions of great need.

Cardinals come tied last in NFLPA player poll

Gotta agree with Britcard on the mod's warning. Whether you agree with his opinions or not, he's clearly taken a lot of personal broadsides on this one, and the mod decides to question his responses??? Both sides need a time out.

    Nick Rallis Introductory Presser

I doubt Billy Davis fits the mold. There's a bunch of young assistant coaches that are still showing up on the AZ website for the coaching staff. I would guess Gannon will keep a couple of them. Maybe Spencer Whipple, Mike Bercovici, Brian Natkin, or Ronald Booker? There's also a few more.

    OT: RIP Conrad Dobler

Sports Illustrated once called him "The Meanest Man in Football" and did an article on him. Also liked the story about the time he pranked Dan Dierdorf by cutting off one of the pant legs on the pants that were hanging in his locker. When Dierdorf went to change he only had one pant leg. He's...

Discussion Before Hire: Jonathan Gannon Thread

Those two plays were horrendous failures in the secondary, but do you do you make a coaching hire decision on the basis of two plays? I think you have to look at the body of work over the entire season. Saying this, it's really hard to get those two plays out of my head.

    Speaking it into existence: Anarumo

I completely agree. Now who among us knows what is going through Ossenford's mind...does he really see things the same way as Bidwill or is he just being agreeable with his new boss? It's a fools game to speculate.

    Cardinals Head Coaching Candidates 2023

The reality is that no one outside of the Cardinal brass and the people being interviewed really know what has transpired throughout the hiring process. For all we know the Cardinals and Gannon have already had a preliminary interview via zoom or in person. The media just doesn't know a whole...

    Speaking it into existence: Anarumo

Bidwill might be making the final decision on the head coach, but I would think that both Bidwill and his new GM, Ossenfort mutually agree on the new coach. It's just not reasonable to assume that Bidwill picks the coach without the new GM's support. I know, cue the...."well if it's not...

    Cardinals Head Coaching Candidates 2023

On January 30th, when asked if he was leaving Philadelphia, Gannon told the Philadelphia media,"Nah, Philly's keeping me. Good, bad, or indifferent, I'm staying here." Now, I suppose he could change his mind, but I think it's unlikely that he leaves Philly for a head coaching position.

Michael couldn't close at the chicken ranch

Regardless of what is reported by the media, it's more likely that Payton's decision to sign with Denver had little to do with organizational culture, and more to do with the money he will be getting and the draft compensation for New Orleans. With new owners, a GM who's floundered, and a...

Michael couldn't close at the chicken ranch

Assuming the Keim and his staff were a big part of the problem, isn't jettisoning Keim and bypassing Wilson and Harris in favor of Ossenfort and Sears a good thing? The glass is half full...let's give credit where credit is due.
