    OT- MLB off-season thread 2020

HALL OF FAME - ZERO For only the third time in twenty-five years, no Major League player was elected into the Hall of Fame. The top three contenders failed. Bonds and Clemens for doping. And Schilling for his extreme political views...

    2020-21 Around the NBA Thread

I feel for the families of the innocent victims who lost their lives in the crash. I see that Kobe's widow is initiating a mega-suit against the helicopter company. We'll never know if Kobe told the pilot to turn around and he blew it off. Or if the pilot did not consider doing so, but...

    What's wrong with Booker?

I hope Suns management is looking beyond the status quo. Considering the disappointing groove into which the team has settled. This place is for us, the fans, to discuss possibilities. C'mon, Cheese, the less Book handles the ball, the better the Suns are. He our star, but he is not a Michael...

    What's wrong with Booker?

Zero reasons? How about the times I've cited his turnovers and being double-teamed constantly by having the ball in his possession far too often? Too predictable.

    Deandre Ayton discussion

As long as he loses his fear of contact. And mixes up his game to include drawing fouls and getting free throws. And grows into a more consistent scorer. It is up to him to achieve it and the coaching staff to teach him how.

    What's wrong with Booker?

Quite a rebuttal to the details of my post. I enjoy the the idea of exchanging opinions and ideas on ASFN. 'Still waiting!

    Deandre Ayton discussion

It's good to read these comments about Deandre. It would be great if he's turned the corner and could take some pressure off Book as a leader. By example!

    What's wrong with Booker?

But Booker this season has been the de-facto Point Guard once CP3 makes his initial pass. Are you denying that? I've seen it over and over and I've watched every game up until the last two.

    What's wrong with Booker?

Does Book fall into the latter category or is that the hope? His turnovers and being double-teamed as he dribbles seem to say that it's the hope and that he does not have the potential to be a Jordan or Kobe. There is no shame in his not being an NBA G.O.A.T. Just our best player at this time.

Nuggets @ Suns Saturday game thread 1-23-2021

For the record, our starters outscored our bench 89 to 23 In an overtime game. Granted, Booker was out and the bench had to cover a starting position. But a key to our fast start was bench scoring. Recently changing the starting lineup apparently affected the fast start. 'Not a good sign if...

Nuggets @ Suns Saturday game thread 1-23-2021

I offer this evaluation. Have the Suns gone from being a historically 'pretty' team to a tough team? And are they constructed to? No . . . and . . . no! So what else is new? Wow, my post count is four 7's with an ace kicker. Royalties! Memories of the ol' fraternity days. I'll...

Nuggets @ Suns Saturday game thread 1-23-2021

Yup, we lost more than we won. The trend is not going in the right direction. And the eye test says that the bubble and the start to this season are not indicative of our current status. We still need a legitimate backup Center and two Power Forwards. And Ayton to grow a pair. And Booker to...

Nuggets @ Suns Saturday game thread 1-23-2021

"If we go 4-2 next 6, we are fine." If ... never mind a metaphor. The reality is that, as has been posted, we have lost most of our last 10. It makes me feel less guilty for watching specials about the late Larry King and also Kamala Harris on CNN tonight, instead of most of the game.

Nuggets @ Suns Saturday game thread 1-23-2021

We won the first 3 quarters by 2, 1 and 1. Without Booker. And, although we scratched and clawed though the first OT, Ayton, once again, flaked out. His stats do not correlate to success for the team. His empty stats! This game produced what the Suns ceiling has been for over a half century. A...

    What's wrong with Booker?

That is exactly what I meant by catch-and-shoot player. He shouldn't be running the offense once CP3 passes to him. It would help him in two key areas. Reduce turnovers and reduce double teams. Please clarify why you say that he is not a good catch- and-shoot player? Isn't that the priority...

    Deandre Ayton discussion

You used the word 'stats' twice in one sentence. As I posted, it is not about stats in evaluating Ayton's performance on the team. Has he been a difference maker? By and large, no. Has he been power in the post? No! Has he done flaky things? Yes. Except for a glimmer of hope, have we seen...

    What's wrong with Booker?

CP3 brings up the ball like a 2nd string Point Guard (to give Book a break) then passes to Book and he sets up the plays. And gets double-teamed because he is still our de-facto facilitator as well as our best scorer. The addition of Chris Paul has been completely mis-used and has been of no...

    They tried to trade Ayton!

That's a critique of our coaching staff.

    Deandre Ayton discussion

I figured you were referring to my post, so I un-ignored this time. I was referring to the season and our recent slide. Not just waiting for one exceptional game. And I'll stick with my claim because strength and consistency help make players' teams better. Not stats. How they do it is more...

    RIP: Hank Aaron (1934-2021)

Excellent point! He and Ernie Banks generated their power with their wrists. Except for the few musclebound sluggers, all ballplayers should specifically include wrist exercises in their preparation, whether swinging for line drives into the gaps or home runs.

    Deandre Ayton discussion

Empty stats. Ayton is not a difference maker. Especially as the #1 pick and a Center. And evidently the Suns coaching staff can't change that. Despite his periodic empty proclamations, Ayton plays soft because he thinks soft. The Suns are not good enough to cover for that.

    RIP: Hank Aaron (1934-2021)

Henry Aaron was consistent and he was clutch. And a great human being.

    Deandre Ayton discussion

Ouch! Triple ouch! It is a bad situation when our #1 pick Center can excel only against a 3rd string Center. Move Ayton to Power Forward and, as I've also posted, Booker to pure Shooting Guard and fill in the rest of the team accordingly and watch the Suns shine! Not doing so is also wasting a...

Suns @ Grizzlies Monday game thread 1-18-21

Or the whole game (various roles) he is being forced to play is impacting his shooting. That sums up what I just posted. CP3 bringing up the ball, then tossing it to Book (as Finito pointed out), makes Devin the de-facto distributor or forced to go 1-on-1 to score, which adds to his being...

Suns @ Grizzlies Monday game thread 1-18-21

Think about that. Calling it a shooting slump is like saying that it is happening to him . . . rather than of his doing. On second thought, we agree. I've been posting that it is happening to him. Spending part of his time as a Point Guard and part of his time as a Shooting Guard. His turnovers...
