Fitz Deal: 4 years, $40 million (Done!!!)

Well its not 11 million, because depending on the signing bonus it is prorated for 4 years not 3. If he got a 30 million SB for 4 years, thats 7.5 mil per year towards the cap.

Fitz Deal: 4 years, $40 million (Done!!!)

Depending on the structure of the deal, its probably not an $11 mil cap hit. Remember Parker wanted a 4 year deal with a high 4th year so that the Cards would restructure after 3. Theoretically, and I don't know what the contract looks like but it could be 30 mil SB, and salaries of 1 mil, 1...

So Seriously, What is going on ?

Welll we can say "Lets not make this a Fitz issue", but the reality is, that it is. Per Joe's spreadsheet we have 4.2 mil left. Cut Shipp and it goes to about 6. But the Cards have made no signs of releasing Shipp and if he does we have one less player under contract that will need to be...

Report: Eagles make offer for Fitzgerald

Yeah, I understand why we drafted him. Just can't figure out why we, as fans, ever thought he could be the speed wide out.
  6. HookemCards

    Limas Sweed

Yeah, I agree Sweed isn't a good fit for the Card's. If he had a bit more speed, maybe 4.35 to 4.40 range, and PLAYED at that speed it would be different.

    If We Trade Fitzgerald.......

Also would be interested in Ty Law, if he agrees to a reasonable deal. His stats declined significantly last year, but part of the reason is because people ran the ball at will against the Chiefs. I doubt he'd be interested in signing for 2 mil a year w/some incentives, but if he did he'd be a...

    If We Trade Fitzgerald.......

I'd like us to bring in Marques Douglas, DE and Jake Scott and Rex Hadnot, OG. Unfortunately I think all will be signed before we get the Fitz contract resolved.

Don't Shoot the Messenger: LaBoy Overrated

I think LaBoy will actually be a pretty good pass rusher for us. I'm far more concerned about the concussion history and run support. Pace was excellent against the run this past year. If he can't play the run well or gets multiple concussions this year, that 22 mil is going to look like a...

Report: Eagles make offer for Fitzgerald

I wouldn't call him a bust. He's been decent for a 2nd rounder and I'd be shocked if the Eagles released him, barring a trade for Fitz, and even then probably not, since they would more than likely take a cap hit. He's been much more productive than BJ. Not sure if he is the deep threat we...

    Cards' Draft Priorities 2008

Yeah, I'd be pretty happy with this draft except you could probably get Crable or Avrill later. Add best available Left OT in the 4th and Durant Brooks in the 5th and I'd be thrilled.

    Cards' Draft Priorities 2008

I wouldn't take Jones in the 1st. If you want to use a 1st rounder on a RB it has to be one of the big 3. I still think the number one priority in round 1 should be fix our pass defense. I'd rather get a DE or OLB that can get after the passer over a CB. With pressure our CBs are decent...

    My Fitz Rant

What were the numbers offered, because all i've heard is 25 to 30 mill guaranteed over 5 years. Just post here so that we all know.

    I hope Fitz Leaves

I completely agree that he is a great player and I want him around for his entire career. I think you will have a hard time finding anyone that thinks otherwise, but at what expense is the question. His agent only wants a 4 year deal, so we can do this all over again in 3 years. Just give him...

I am sick to Death about trading Fitz...!!!!!!!!

Its actually more than that. 14.5 million this year, 17.5 mill next year, and if we franchise him the following year 21 mil base salary (20 percent raise from previous salary) so we are looking at 51 mil over 3 years if he plays out his contract and then is franchised in 2010. Not going to happen.

    Fitz's value?

Yeah, thats what I was saying in a round about way. Since you don't save much trading him, it would have to be a "blow you away" deal to trade him. So from the Cards perspective his trade value is very high.

    2008 Comp. Picks

Once again the Cards won't get any!!! http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19143 I'm going to figure out a way to blame this on Graves :)

    Fitz's value?

Fitz's trade value is pretty good to the Cardinals. What I mean by this is, as far as cap value goes there isn't a huge difference between trading him and restructuring him. Using Moss's contract as a baseline, 9mil per year, its only a difference of 3 mil for cap purposes. Obviously the...

    Pace: I'm not the savior!

I think Pace would have taken less to stay in Arizona, but who knows for sure. Sometimes its better to take less and stay where you are. I would imagine after moving his family, taxes, higher cost of living in NY, the difference between 42 million w/22 mil guaranteed isn't a whole lot...

You think you can do better? Tell me your plan.

It all starts with getting Fitz's cap number resolved one way or another. If you want to resign him......GET IT DONE. If you want to trade him......GET IT DONE. I still think we need a nickle back, DE, and either OT or G in FA, so once you get Fitz's 17 mil off the books, extend Gandy to...

A new deal for Warner (Somers blog)

They don't need more money to restructure Fitz. This move is strictly to clear a little space to add another FA and it will only clear 2 mil or so, so it won't be much of a FA signing.

A new deal for Warner (Somers blog)

LOL, the richest WR contract in the league? 25 - 30 mil guaranteed over 5 years isn't that great unless the salaries are 5 or 6 mil a year, in which case you don't reduce his cap number as much.
  24. HookemCards

    Limas Sweed

Oh, I think he'll go earlier than that, just that I wouldn't want the Cards to take him until then. I think he may be going to the Titans with there first rounder.

    Limas Sweed

Ran a 4.47 at the combine and I think 36 or 37 inch vertical. I wouldn't grab him in the first (someone will) but would definately snag him if he is there at 50
