    Story on Tommy Blake

http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=352085 Not sure where he will get drafted, but if he is still around in the 5th, or most definately the 6th, he'd be worth the risk. Would definately have to put in his contract incentives for playing time and therapy/medication.

    We won't win with Warner

Which @ Seattle game are you referring too. The one this year he was 28/46 for 337 yds and 3 tds. He did have 5 picks in that game, but I'll give him a bit of a pass since Kerney was attached to his hip the entire game. I'm not saying Warner is going to lead us to the Super Bowl, but he's...

Mayock on the RBs in the draft

Did he really just say he didn't see any back being taken in the 2nd round? If it would be possible to get Charles in the 3rd, I'd be estatic. Merling, Cason, Charles, Hills would be awesome first 4 rounds.

    Bryant Johnson

Don't think anyone wants him gone. He's a decent if not good #3 reciever. I just don't think we can afford to pay him what some other team will offer. If he'll resign for small signing bonus and modest salaries fine, but my guess he'll sign somewhere for around 4 years, 12 to 15 mil. 3 mil...

Cards Free Agent Budget - Long

Ok, thanks Joe, I knew it was something along those lines. So Fitz is essentially untaggable on his current contract. I really think the biggest problem with this offseason isn't going to be "cap space" but cash available for bonuses. After Fitz contract restructuring, and Dansby's new...

ATL releases Crumpler, Leftwich, five others

I'd bring in Crumpler if the price was right obviously. Atlanta has been one of the top rushing teams in the league for awhile so he prolly can block.

a thought on the cap situation

I think I'd be tempted to bring in Turner if we could get him for same or less than James this year. James cap hit is large, 6.75, but if we cut him we only save 3.25 (less if we have a bonus due next year). I'd be surprised if we could get Turner for less than that. I do recall James...

Cards Free Agent Budget - Long

I'm not positive but I think the franchise tag number is average of the top 5 at the position, or 110 percent raise if already in the top 5. Not positive on that, I'm sure Joe could clarify. I'd also prefer to do a longer deal than 5 (restructure after 4) if you he is going to get a 30 mil...

    The All-Sexy Cardinal Draft 2008

Morgan in the 4th is definately sexy, especially since Mayock has him rated ahead of Kenny Phillips. I'd be shocked if he fell to the 2nd, much less middle of the 4th. I'd really like to see a couple more defensive players early (1st - 3rd) before I call it sexy.

    Panthers cut Wahle and Morgan

Well checking his stats, he's never played a full year. His best year was 2002 when he played 13 games. Too bad he could never stay healthy, but then I guess Carolina would have released him.

    Here's my offseason wish list

Ok, adjusted the contract for Fitz and Dansby to be more inline with NFL contracts.

    Panthers cut Wahle and Morgan

I wonder if Morgan could have any value as backup ILB. If healthy and limited to 15 plays a game he'd be an upgrade to Beisel.

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

You defend him for giving roster bonuses last year to put us in better shape financially this year, but fail to point out that had he not done that we could have signed more depth, and maybe the injuries aren't as big a problem. I find it hard to believe that teams like Pittsburgh...

    Here's my offseason wish list

I figured Fitz's numbers would be a little bit low. But the last few years won't matter if he is going to count 12 mil against the cap again we'll be looking to restructure again in year 5 or 6. Gandy doesn't have much leverage though. Right now he is looking at 7 mil this year, but nothing...

    Here's my offseason wish list

Actually those where the 2006 salaries for Bailey and Tafoya. Joe's spreadsheet for 2007 showed them all at 595k. Anyway I gave them all a 10 percent raise in my recent changes to 655k

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

BJ isn't cap savings or cap hit becuase he is not on the roster therefore isn't calculated on the salary cap. Holt saves 3.5 if cut by Mar 1 Shipp saves 1.75 Ross saves 2.1 Berry saves 3

    Here's my offseason wish list

Dansby may want more than 3 mil per year. But the important thing is the first couple years of the contract. I think he'll be happy with roughly 21 mil the next two years though, then you can escalate the salaries for the remaining years to 5 mil.

    Here's my offseason wish list

Well wasn't sure exactly what the league minimums were for them, so whatever the minimum is thats what i'd pay them. Subtract 1 mil from available money.

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

The only thing that matters to the players is upfront money. Why wouldn't he? Besides base salaries after the first 2 years mean minimal, you could add 2 mil to years 3 and 4, and 2 mil more years 5 and 6. 24 mil bonus, 3 mil, 3 mil, 5 mil, 5 mil, 7 mil, 7 mil. But if he wants to do it that...

    Here's my offseason wish list

Just going to take a stab at it. I'll use Joes numbers on his spreadsheet since i'm sure its damn close to reality. Restructures: Fitzgerald - #1 priority this offseason. 24 million signing bonus, salaries of 4 mil, 4 mil, 6 mil, 6 mil, 8 mil, 8 mil. Cap savings 9.3 mil. Gandy - Played...

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

Well if you are going to give Graves credit for having the foresite to do the roster bonuses last year to save cap room, then you have to ding him for structuring Gandy's contract so that he counts almost 7 million against the cap. Now he will have to be cut or restructured. I actually don't...

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

I don't know if I worded it correctly. I'm not sure if it was intentionally to be able to cut players easier, if I recall the practice actually started the previous year under Green. Lets just say blind squirrel.

An Offer To Rework Fitz's Deal - Darren Urban

The biggest advantage to giving roster bonuses instead of signing bonuses (and I think this was the driving factor for Graves to do it last year) is when cutting players the roster bonus doesn't accelerate to the cap, where as signing bonuses would. Everyone knows that 2nd year coaches usually...
