    American Perimeter Trail Project

A few years ago I did the same thing, realizing that the great outdoors is an amazing place and I was living in a place where it was readily accessible and flat out missing out on that wonder. I suddenly had, not a desire, but a need to spend time outdoors. If I was 18 again my life would turn...

    American Perimeter Trail Project

It didn't say what his time frame was for his hike. I checked out his facebook page and he started in late July. Imagine being free like that. This speaks to my soul. But at the same time it seems the difference between being a hiker and being homeless is a social media presence.

    Fishing Trip

Going with my brother and niece to San Diego today on a fishing trip. He has done it a couple times and loves it. The one time I did this in NY I got very sea sick. Hopefully dramamine will keep that from happening. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Right before it happened I was talking a TON of trash to my coworker about our fantasy football game. He was done and I had the niners defense. I needed 13 points to win and already had it....I was in the urgent care when he changed his team name to kankle.

Looks like my backpacking trip is over before it ever began. I turned my ankle at work today and went to urgent care. The Dr. initially thought it was broken or was the worst sprain she had ever seen.

Thanks. I will check these out. I have already seen Darwin on the Trail. I watched his AZ Trail videos. He actually reminds me of me...same goofy deep voice, half grin and other mannerisms. It's a little strange. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I have watched a few of Dixie's videos. They are good. Geared toward new hikers in that she doesnt take for granted that the viewer has a large knowledge base. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

    I need to go camping

Now more then ever you need contingency plans. I used to have 1 back up spot. Now I have at least 2 and holiday camping is something I try to avoid. I would rather take a day or two off work for a long weekend trip. Except for the place that I have been to a couple times and from what I can...

"Fitness" Group of 44 rescued from Superstition Wilderness

This was apparently a group from out of town that decided to go on one of the most difficult hikes in the valley. They were told not to go from Park Rangers before they went. They are not going to be billed for the cost of the rescue.

Its funny that when I go camping I take WAY more then I need...because, well...I have a truck and all the room in the world. On the bikepacking trip I took almost nothing. What is a FAK?

My (and my brothers) goal is to hike the Arizona Trail....but we would have to do it in sections. I kind of laugh at him as he thinks 15-20 miles a day is something we can start out doing right out of the gate. I am looking at a 10-15 mile overnighter. 5-7 miles out and 5-7 back for my first...

I will be hammock camping so the thermarest pad won't be an issue. Still need to get the stove and cooking ware. I am planning on getting a Katadyn water filter but have been seeing a lot of good things about the Sawyer Mini. Thats the plan. First I am going to see if I can find a way to...

    Backpacking thread

My recent biking trip with my brother made me realize that I would like to try backpacking because I think I would love it. I like hiking and I liked the minimalist camping. Just not the bike riding. So I am back to the gym and putting the treadmill on an incline and using the stair climber...

Target Shooting in the East Valley?

I know a lot of people go shooting at the Tonto Basin. I don't know how well skeet would work there though. You would have to be careful of what it beyond you.
