Easily, The mood on this board would be far different right now if he were playing. We would be the surprise 2-0 team to start the season.
However, I will give Dobbs credit. Guy has been on the team for a few weeks and has performed admirably under the circumstances. His ceiling is just...
Giants had about a 5% chance for victory trailing 28-7 in 3rd quarter. It sucks, but occasionally that 5% happens. Granted, perhaps the Cards many meltdowns over the years are a significant contributor to the 5% probability. Lol.
Oh I don't disagree with that. We have certainly seen this show before. The team has shown periods playing far better than their talent level though, but they can't sustain it for 60 minutes. Merely having a healthy Kyler to start the season and this thread probably wouldn't be getting posts...
Fair enough. I guess I'm just less critical of our new coaches. Despite a roster we all agree is pretty terrible(including a QB on team for 3 weeks) the team was playing exceptionally well for about 35 minutes.
Injuries on defense along with our best leader Budda not playing wasn't able...
Great point. some of the TV/social media talking heads praising the Giants for such an amazing comeback against the team they all have ranked #32 in power rankings and claim is likely trying to tank. Kind of odd.
This criticism would be more valid if he keeps saying this repeatedly next year and not just after his second game as our HC with a pretty horrendous roster overall.
Dobbs played much better than Week 1 and has been on the team for 3 weeks. Their terrible collapse doesn't erase the fact the team played very well in first half despite a pretty bad roster. I wasn't expecting them to be competitive in an quarter so far this season.
True. But even at that point the probability of a Giant win was still hovering around 5%. Given our history though and our current roster it should have probably been higher.
Agreed. Soul crushing was losing the Super Bowl despite a furious comeback by the Cards in the 4th quarter to take the lead. Losing like this in week 2 In a season we are expected to suck is just kind of disappointing.
Ah. Didn't see it dropped to 4. Last I saw though was couple days ago and was still 5 or 6 I believe but may be wrong. I rarely bet on sports anymore. I feel like I'm gambling too much on certain stocks in the market already. Lol
Hey, on a positive note, the few who bet big on the Cards in the first two weeks are huge winners since they covered the spread in close losses. I wouldn't bet on them next two weeks though.
Yeah, that is getting some headlines, but overall overcoming a 21 point deficit isn't incredibly uncommon league wide over the years. 28+ is much more rare. Heck didn't the Vikings overcome a 33-0 halftime deficit to the Colts just last year?
Agreed. Definitely had that sick feeling in the gut afterwards. It might sound crazy, but I had an ominous feeling at halftime. I imagine others did as well. We have all seen this show before.
Feel bad for Dobbs though. Guy still doesn't have a win as starter I believe? Now he gets...
Not anymore, but honestly it was a better policy than what they have now. Some teams have two Thursday games which in my opinion increases risk of injuries for players.
It definitely stings but it wasn't like this team was suddenly going to the playoffs this year with a win today.
On a positive note, Dobbs has been on the team now just 3 weeks and played pretty well compared to just a week ago.
Being on a team for about 10 days and thrust into the starting job on week 1 is hardly a recipe for success. Hopefully he does at least marginally improve each week as he becomes more familiar with the offense because he appears to be the only option in the short term.(since they don't want...
Even Kyler struggling some in the new system would be a significant improvement over Dobbs. My guess though is that we are going to be stuck with Dobbs for a few more weeks. I seriously doubt they want to put Tune out there against the brutal schedule in the short term.
I still don't...
I think the Giants are going to soon regret paying Jones that massive contract. He isn't very good imo.
Granted, he is miles better than Dobbs, so Giants certainly have the advantage. I'm somewhat wondering why we didn't just keep Blough and send him out there if the rookie isn't ready...
Washington was 8-8-1 in the most brutal division last year. You weren't surprised our defense played a great game? Personally I was expecting the Cards to look horrible in every aspect. Especially considering it was an early East Coast game(which historically we are often awful) , brand...
Frankly, I don't understand why anyone would be super pessimistic from the result. The team was far more competitive than I thought they would be. The Cards were playing early on the East Coast a QB on the team for 2 weeks. The team would have likely destroyed Washington with Kyler playing...
