i really want someone to call that bluff. The drafting team would retain Bronny's rights for his time in the other league.

Suns draft Ryan Dunn at #28

I don't know how often it happens, but there are examples out there. Derrick Jones Jr is the easiest to point out, his 3pt percentage steadily improved around age 22.

Suns draft Ryan Dunn at #28

Kyle Anderson is probably the best example in this list as he's the only pure wing, but his career 3pt% is 33.8% and 37.9% at the corners. That's significantly better. As for the others, they're more bigs than wings to me, but maybe that's where Dunn ends up.

Suns draft Ryan Dunn at #28

Yeah, bigs have a bit more lee-way, there are definitely more examples of bigs who can't shoot from range that can stay on the floor (Dallas had two of em). I guess it's theoretically possible they see Dunn as a small ball 5, but he seems a bit small/light for that.

Suns draft Ryan Dunn at #28

Is this true? I'd have to spend some time looking through some data but I would guess that most of the wing defensive role players who get regular playing time are able to at least sniff league average on open 3s. Players like McDaniels, Derrick Jones Jr, Dort, Christian Braun, etc. Dunn shot...

Going from Klay to PG13 (assuming healthy, which is a big assumption at this point) is a pretty big upgrade.

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

That extra height does make a big difference. He looks more like a Derrick Jones Jr type: His 3pt shot mechanically looks ok, but he's a pretty terrible shooter overall, averaging just 52.5% on Free throws and 23.5% on 3pters. Looking at the various draft boards, he's a huge reach at 22, but...

I hope someone locks Okogie in a gym and makes him shoot 1000 3pt shots a day. He doesn't need to be Grayson Allen, but he needs to hit at least a league average on wide open 3pt looks or else teams will just keep leaving him open to clog the paint.

From what I read it's 5/227 guaranteed, but if he hits All-Nba this year it jumps to 5/270. Pretty tall order, but given the 65 game rule, not completely out of the question.

Agree, but it would be nice to have a rim runner or other vertical threat to go with it. Running those PnRs with Nurkic won't quite yield the same results.

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2024 Some targets: - Josh Richardson (highly unlikely, he's got a player option) - Justin Holiday - Torrey Craig - Lonny Walker - Delon Wright I just think there's guys out there that can bring more to the table than Gordon at this stage of his...

I'm in the camp where they should be subtly pushing for Gordon to decline the option. Barring injury, top 5 minutes will probably be: Book KD Beal Nurk Allen Then ideally it should be: O'Neale Backup PG (Lowry? Cam Payne? Rookie?) Backup C / Drew Eubanks replacement (Bol?) Backup guard...

Gordon was basically the only min player from last season that worked out, but his role is slightly redundant with Allen (and to a lesser extent, O'neale).

That is a GREAT deal for OKC. I'm surprised Chicago couldn't get any draft picks out of them, seeing as OKC owns ALL OF THEM.

Monty Williams Fired (Hired by Detroit)

Monty signed for 78.5 million dollars and produced 14 wins. That's gotta be a record $5.6M per win. I know, not entirely fair as that 78.5M was for 6 years, but still...

Ah, I re-read the thread. I missed the part where you mentioned the cap-holds. I'm a little less familiar with this so I'll defer to your knowledge here.

2024 NBA Draft talk: Suns own pick 22

Right, but, it can be signed after we use the remaining free cap space. Again, unless I'm totally misreading the thread, we're talking about 2026-27 season, where Phoenix will have ~140 mill tied up to Book, Beal, Allen and Little. The projected space is ~170, so they have ~30 million they can...

That's true but you can go over the cap to sign certain deals, notably the mid-level exception (non-taxpayer ideally), biannual exceptions and also minimum deals.

It's pretty much a no-brainer given his bird rights and that Phoenix is up against the 2nd apron. I don't think he can be replaced with a minimum level signing (and they've tried a few times last off-season)
