Should the Suns keep Ryan McDonough as GM

And hiring and extending Earl Watson (without even interviewing other candidates) was almost as terrible as the Knight-trade.

Should the Suns keep Ryan McDonough as GM

No, IT-trade was made minutes before the deadline when Dragic was already gone. McD is OK at drafting, had good and bad ones, some done better, others worse. He seems a very succesful negotiator at FA-deal and extensions. I think that McD made some excellent trades (original Bledsoe and the...

Aaron Gordon? And why would the Magic ever have an intention of not matching any offer sheet for Gordon?

I think it's getting more and more likely (especially with emergence of Jackson) that it will be Porter who drops to #7 (if not further).

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

I think that NBA players keep telling similar things all the time and when their decision comes, they will consider other things as well and easily put messages like that behind them.

Provided Chriss and/or Bender shows some further progress, this package definitely gets the job done (however, I'm not sure that #7 guarantees draftign either Bamba or Jackson) even without 2019 Suns 1st rounder. #13, #28 and another late 1st rounder did net #8 in 2016 #14(Muhammad) and #21...

    Dragan Bender

That's at least part of his issue. He was also only a role player (and a quiet one) for the croatian national team.

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

:), yes, it doesn't seem likely. However, the jury is still out and the Suns are not in a hurry since they still lack core players. However, let's calm down a bit and see how long can Randle keep 17/9, if he can at all.

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

Cool. All you have to do is waiting for 2 years and then we all will see if Bender or Chriss averaged 17/9. After that we can compare that to what Randle have averaged in those 2 years.

As the Spurs already did in case of a much lesser player, Aldridge.

The 2017-2018 Around the NBA thread

Pardon me, but what is that impressive in a 4th-year player making 17/9 (with questionable defense I guess) for a bad team in a few games? Even if he keeps that until the season ends? How does that justify that we should trade a younger, cheaper prospect for him at this stage of Suns' rebuilding?

eFG% is not a good tool to measure scoring efficiency (since it doesn't take FT's into account), TS% is.

    2018 NBA Trade Deadline

Me too, but other than the Lakers (who might become desperate enough at trying to dump Clarkson and/or Deng as much that we could benefit) I can't think of any other team which might.

No, it is not. What is his production other than scoring at below league average efficiency?

Thanks for the summary. I think that their evaluation is spot on (except that Jackson would go about 10th in a redraft). I especially agree with them regarding Warren who is (massively) overrated on this board. The reasons? 1. He is the only consistent scorer after Booker. 2. A hard-worker...

    2018 NBA Trade Deadline

I think that we have but reportedly the Suns don't wanna decrease cap flexibility if they trade Monroe. I can not see a deal where Monroe is traded for expiring(s)/cap space + assets.

    2018 NBA Trade Deadline

I'm not really high on Payton and I would not trade for him either since he will get a new contract this summer and it will be a sizeable one despite his obvious shortcomings. Fournier is too much alike Booker and taking over his contract would be too early and premature at this point of Suns'...

There is no way that Doncic is behind Young. Behind Ayton is possible, maybe behind Bagley too.

I also thought he will slow down after a few or even a half-dozen good/great games. He just doesn't and keeps destroying every opponent. I really can't recall a player (if one ever existed) that averaged 30PPG/10APG for a top25 college team. Add that he is a freshman and Trae Young is simply...

    2018 NBA Trade Deadline

I highly doubt that he is. It's the exact opposite, IMO. Ainge will watch his team going probably at least into conf. semifinal. Then he will sleep very well after having a thought of switching Baynes to Hayward in the starting lineup next season.

    2018 NBA Trade Deadline

So is TJ Warren, yet he (according to your evaluation) is a great player and can net a mid-lottery pick while Thomas and Love are crazy terrible. Actually Warren is (much) less effective in scoring than Love and Thomas (last season).

Rockets @ Suns game thread 1-12-18

Not only more balanced, but also better. When they were at full strentgh, they seemed a legit contender and maybe even more. The key was that they became a top defensive team as well by adding Tucker and Mbah-a-Moute. Then injuries to Paul, Mbah-a-Moute, Capela and Harden ruined their momentum...
