    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Week 17 scenarios: AZ win: in AZ tie: need CHI loss (not a tie) AZ loss: out
  2. TheCardinal

    We control our destiny!

Or tie... plus Bears loss. But yes, win and in.
  3. TheCardinal

So your telling me there's a chance!

If LA/AZ gets flexed, Rams may have clinched earlier in the day should Bears lose to a GB team needing a win to lock up the 1-seed. Rams could treat it as a bye week. Bears would have to upset GB to keep LA honest, if our game gets flexed.
  4. TheCardinal

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Yes. Unless we plan on playing to a tie. ONLY THEN, GB/CHI determines our playoff fate.

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Seattle clinches the West. Green Bay cannot clinch the 1-seed this week thanks to Seattle win. Barring their game getting flexed next week (unlikely), GB would have to play their starters.

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

Could be huge for us if this happens. An earlier loss by the Bears to a GB team that has to play its starters (with Seattle’s win today), would clinch it for the Rams. May rest their starters, especially if TB beats Atlanta to lock up the 5-seed.
  7. TheCardinal

    LAR @ SEA

Assuming score holds... Next week we could eliminate the Rams if the Bears also win. GB, however, will have something to play for.
  8. TheCardinal

    LAR @ SEA

If the Seahawks/Rams score holds, GB cannot clinch the 1-seed this weekend. Assuming the GB/CHI game doesn’t get flexed into the night slot, GB will have something to play for.
  9. TheCardinal

    LAR @ SEA

If Rams lose... We’re in next week with a win. ...Or tie PLUS Chicago loss.
  10. TheCardinal

    LAR @ SEA

Yes, if the Rams lose today, we regain control of our own destiny. Win and in. Lose and out. Tie and hope GB beats Chicago.

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

If WSH loses and PHI wins, I think the WSH/PHI game becomes winner-takes-all, and likely gets the night slot. Any other combo today, and I don’t see an NFC East game getting flexed next week.

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

Could work out in our favor. Let’s say Rams lose, and they move our game to the night slot next week. Then, in the day games, GB defeats CHI to clinch the 1-seed. TB beats ATL for the 5-seed. Rams would have clinched with the Bears loss. We would be playing for our playoff lives. All the Rams...

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Then maybe we’ll salvage a tie? An Arizona tie PLUS Chicago loss works too.
  14. TheCardinal

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

Yes, but the issue is the night game. I don’t see many options where there is a game guaranteed to be meaningful, in its own right, without being affected by an earlier outcome. Maybe something in the NFC East once the dust settles today.

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

If the Rams lose today, perhaps they flex AZ/LA next week? That way if Chicago wins early, AZ/LA becomes winner-take-all, loser out. If Chicago loses early, Rams in, and AZ playing to clinch.
  16. TheCardinal

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Bears beating Jaguars. The Cardinals now need to beat the Rams next week, PLUS one of the following: SEA over LAR this week OR GB over CHI next week
  17. TheCardinal

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

The problem with the Browns losing is that it could increase the odds of them moving the GB/CHI game to the night spot next week instead of PIT/CLE. That would be increase the odds that the Packers could clinch before kickoff. There aren’t a lot of good options for the flex next week, for in/out...

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

No matter what, the Cardinals cannot be eliminated this weekend. However, in your scenario, we would need to win and Bears to lose next week, but GB would have nothing to play for.
  19. TheCardinal

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

However, I suspect they would move the GB/CHI game to a late slot. Still also a chance that game gets flexed into the night slot, or even our game against the Rams.
  20. TheCardinal

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

We get in with two losses by Chicago, even if we lose next week. If we beat the Rams, we get in with a Rams loss to Seattle, or one loss by Chicago.
  21. TheCardinal

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

No, it’s correct. A Cardinals VICTORY clinches it for the Rams. The Rams have tie-breakers over the Bears (H2H) and so the only way the Rams get left out would be if: Bears win both to get to 9-7 Rams lose both to get to 9-7 Cards split to go exactly 9-7 Should the Cards get to 10-6, the Rams...

    Wild Card Tie-Breaker Scenarios

Bucs clinch a wildcard. For the Cardinals: Win both (10-6), we’re in and at worst the 6-seed. If TB loses next week to ATL, we’d get the 5-seed. Split remaining games (9-7), we would need EITHER: Bears lose 1 OR Rams lose 2. Would be 6-seed or 7-seed. Lose both games (8-8), we’d need Bears...

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

I think it’s safe to call the TB/DET game. Bucs clinch a wildcard. It takes away one of our outs at 9-7. Should we split our remaining games to finish 1-1, we would need either: Bears lose 1 OR Rams lose 2 We can still be the 5-seed but would need to win out and have TB lose to ATL next week.

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

A Seattle win over LA also has the added advantage of shifting destiny-control back to the Cardinals even if we do Cardinal-it-up on Saturday and lose to Frisco, and the Bears beat Jax. Then a win over LA clinches a playoff spot and puts the Rams on the hot seat, sweating out the CHI/GB game...

    Other games 12-25/26/27/28-2020

The Packers still owe us a favor for getting them into the playoffs in 2003 with that Vikings game. I suppose two heart-breaking playoff losses to us later . . . Perhaps all is forgotten.
