    The Marion Appreciation Thread

I actually tend to disagree. I tihnk after the playoffs, JJ is much more likely to become "our Pippen" than Shawn.

    OTL - Andrew Bynum's dilemma

Part of my point is, are players like Amare, LeBron, Carmelo, Bosh better served by devloping in college or in the NBA. I would argue that Amare would not be nearly as good if he had spent the last 3 years at Memphis. As for Cleveland drafting crappy players, thats their fault. Plenty of...

    OTL - Andrew Bynum's dilemma

Will an age limit really impact the quality of players? The some of the biggest impact players drafted recently have been high schoolers. The fact is, very few polished players are going to make a difference for many lottery teams.

    OTL - Andrew Bynum's dilemma

Also, 30 players are going to get drafted in the first round every year and get contracts, age limit or not.

    LOL at poor White Chocolate

I have to disagree with some of you, from everything I read, the reporter did deserve every bit of Jwill's tantrum.

    O'Neal is the poster child...

I have to agree with cheese. If the market is willing to pay them millions for their basketball playing skills, by all right they should be allowed to play.

    O'Neal is the poster child...

Not that I necessarily agree with O'Neal about the race issue, but the age limit is much more about money than benevolence.

    Best PF in 3 years?

I happen to disagree. I do not think Boozer is in the class of those guys, particularily Amare, Bosh, and Howard.

    sunsfn 3/25/2005 report Stockton/Nash

Riddle me this: an assist which means, by definiton, 2 or even 3 points were scored is worth less than a change of possesion where, on average 1.02 points are scored. It would seem to me that in terms of point production an assist is more valuable than a turnover.

    2005 draft preview thread

It would be mistake taking a pitcher that high, especially a high school pitcher. They're not worth it.

    Byron Scott advocates nonguarenteed contracts

Lars, i think you are missing the point. The idea of non-gaureenteed contracts has much less with "disciplining" the players and much more to do with saving the owners money in the long-term.

    Suns must keep team intact

Having seen Turiaf a fair amount here in the WCC, I really don't think he is anything special. I think he'll have a much tougher time scoring on NBA bigs and I have reservations about his athleticism. He's an especially poor fit on the Suns, IMO.

    beltran a met

I don't know what is not impressive about Beltran's numbers as a 27 year old CF. He's damn near a 40-40 player that walks as much as he SO's. Look again. And there is a reason shane spencer has never had more than 395 AB's in a season. He's a 4th OF.

Let's go get Nick Van Exel...

an interesting idea, but i don't think we have the salary to get it done...Nick makes around 14 mil

    No deal

The Yankees, have in various permutations of a RJ deal, been willing to cover the differnece in RJ's and Vasquez's salary. 16mil v. 34mil. And yes I would think the Reds would move one of their OFs, especially with the signing of Randa to play 3B.

    No deal

if it were me, I'd try and parlay Vasquez into Adam Dunn while turning the yankee prospects into a pitcher(of quality, i don't know)...while freeing up a bunch of salary

    Unloading Eisley

I think it is important to remember that while he is dead weight this year, Eisley and his 7 million dollar expiring contract will become valuable after this year, as evidenced by this summer.

    Should Jackson Vroman wear #40?

I don't see how Mike Ricci wearing #40 is lame, and i really doubt, from what i know of Pat Tilman, that he ever took himself so seriously as a professional athlete that he would "puke at the thought of it."

    The Diamondbacks are Hot

haha, I knew i was splitting hairs about the youth. I cannot argue about the polish of Jackson and Quentin, but I think Kroeger may have more as of yet untapped potential than those guys. i.e. He may have most room to grow. However Quentin and Jackson are great prospects.

    The Diamondbacks are Hot

Don't count out Kroeger. He is the youngest of the three and the best athlete.

    Randy on Waivers?

Itis not an unwritten rule of basbeall at all. Once a team claims Randy Johnson the Diamondbacks can: A. Pull him off waivers B. Work out a trade with the team C. Let the team have him

    LOL, Cuban pays Damp 7yrs/$73M

I think you are overrating dampier a little bit, but I think before the Dampier shoe dropped, we (or atleast I) felt making the playoffs would be a battle. The west is that tough and the Suns are that young.

    Randy on Waivers?

actually once a team claims him, the diamondbacks can pull him off waivers or work out a trade with the team

Deadline to sign Drew was today....

I really doubt Drew attends class, not Boras' MO.
