Make that 12 spots left. Thanks to Nash for signing up!

    Amare update XTRA 910

A major reason for that is that, while they did lower opponent FG%, they also put their opponent on the free throw line the 6th most in the NBA. They played great defense, but were too aggressive in doing it.

    2004-05 Strat-o-Matic GM Draft Simulation

2005-06 Strat-o-Matic GM Draft Simulation Hey guys. I am running a draft simulation in my personal forum on a different site, and we still need a bunch of GM's to fill it up. It will first entail moving through a 12 round 30 team draft. Once the teams are drafted, you will give me a...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

I'm still saying that team after team has won the NBA title without having a big man who can shoot 45% from three. I don't know why this spacing is all the sudden a requirement for a title. They can still have plenty of spacing, they'll just play a second mid-range shooting big man on the...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

Come on man, please give me a little more credit than that. Of course there is more to it than fouls per minute. Only an idiot would suggest such a thing. And if I believed that I would not have said in the same paragraph that Kurt Thomas was in foul trouble even though he plays great...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

I hardly think completely fouling out every third game would constitute consistency from game to game. ;) The claim I was denying is that James Jones constantly picked up ticky tack fouls that kept him out of the game. The fouls in your case don't keep him out of the game. For some reason...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

But your argument here in the case of James Jones does not. And alas, we are discussing JJ. What was mathmatically impossible was not to average two fouls per game. What I said was mathematically impossible was to play only five minutes one night and then 20-25 minutes the next...and then...

Are the Suns done for the summer (player moves) ?

It's better than not getting anything, which certainly could have been the case based on how much players are getting overpaid this offseason. They get a vet in which the NBA will pay a good portion of his salary. Not bad in my opinion.

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

No, it's not possible. It's math. If James Jones plays 5 minutes one night and 25 minutes the next, the average is 13.5...not 25. He averaged 25. Mathmatically impossible. Besides, there's not a game the entire season where he only played 5 minutes (other than when he was injured). Logic...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

Great point. Suns fans like to dream that we are made of money. Even though we are said to be the fifth biggest city in the USA, we are not a big basketball market. This team will always have to be financially responsible. That means you don't pay a guy $6 million dollars as an insurance...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

Actually, those instances wouldn't be considered "COUNTLESS". In fact, we have statistics for counting these things. The claim that he couldn't stay on the court for any consistant time is just a load of crap. Kurt Thomas was also in foul trouble a lot, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a big...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

He was a big part of it off the bench. He was playing around 25 minutes per game at that point in the season. How do you manage do believe that one cannot make an impact with 25 minutes per game? While you were laying around trying to think of clever things to say over the internet like...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

Damn, too bad every team can't afford to have a $6 million dollar insurance policy to hang around on the bench but then spring into action "just in case" something happens...

Correction, he takes his shooting to a higher level. His defense was still atrocious in every way shape and form, and it will always be. Signing Tim Thomas automatically punches Shawn Marion's ticket out of here in my opinion.

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

James Jones was a big reason why the Suns had the top 2 defense in the NBA, because he uses his long arms to double team. They played mostly man defense, but when they did double they were able to shut people down. I was also impressed with his defense in the playoffs. Tim Thomas is a revolving...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

He may have been worth that, but not to us. You do not pay $6 million in a new contract for a guy who is going to be riding the bench for the majority of every game. Well, maybe you do. It's not a perfect world, and we can't afford to just throw money away. Locking up Tim at an average of $6 mil...

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

Not true. Overpaying some people is fair. Overpaying some others is not. Tim Thomas would have been sitting on the bench a hell of a lot. $6 million for a guy that is going to be your #7 or #8 on the team is not smart any way you try to spin it.

Harpring agrees to stay with Utah Jazz

They repeatedly said beforehand that they were willing to offer Tim Thomas the value that was fair for them, and they were fully aware that an offer could come along that would blow theirs out of the water. Seriously, where are you coming up with this stuff? Tim Thomas is not worth $6 million...

This just in, Suns still one of the favorites to win the championship....

You, sir, know what the hell you are talking about. Props. Some people have nothing better to do than to bitch and whine every day about the Suns. Seriously, get a life and come back in a month. You're making yourselves look like idiots with this childish crap. A few weeks into the offseason and...

It's nice to say these things, but unfortunately there's a devil called luxury tax that Phoenix will be dancing with in 2007 beyond.

    Barbosa

82games.com has him listed at a -2.5, but I don't like how they calculate that number. When he's on the court, the Suns improve on offense from 111.4 to to 113.3. When he's on the court, they give up 7 more points. So, to me, it seems as if that -5.1 number is the important one. Another...

    Eddie Johnson for Governor!

He is far better than James Jones, so I'd say he is at least worth $4 per year for the Suns. I can't imagine he'd not try and earn something more though, like a 5 year #30 mil contract. Suns can't afford him. I'm kind of a salary grinch, I know, but I like to talk realistically. Suns are...

    Eddie Johnson for Governor!

True. Good news for the Suns is that Tim Thomas got his last big contract by pulling a Jerome James in a sense and having a great playoffs in a contract year. He usually does well in them, but I would expect he will stand out because he wants to create value for himself in the offseason.
