    Yep. I still enjoy it.

    Saving Mr. Banks

Reifenstahl's visit was not long after Kristallnacht. Disney is widely quoted as telling her he admired her work but it would hurt his image and reputation to be seen professionally associating with her. Not entirely naive or ignorant, perhaps. It is also well-documented that in the original...

    Saving Mr. Banks

I've very indirectly had contact with 2-3 Disney friends/family/employees over the past 45 years. W/o exception, Walt was not depicted as anywhere near the nice, avuncular guy we like to imagine -- but he was very serious about protecting his image. I just did a little digging around --...

I was happy to see Raylan again. Looks like several interesting themes being set up.

    Favorite Christmas Movie?

Scrooged is #1 by far, then Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. Also the old versions of Miracle on 34th St and A Christmas Carol.

    RIP: Peter O'Toole (1923-2013)

There was a time when Peter O'Toole was without question the sexiest actor on the face of the earth. Beyond that, he was a really skilled and nuanced actor who could carry off comedy as well as he could the bleakest tragedy. He was in some of my all-time favorite movies -- "Lawrence of Arabia,"...

What DVD's do you own that you have re-watched more than 5x?

I need to get a DVD of Groundhog Day. I must have watched it half a dozen times. Also Terminator I. Pulp Fiction for Xmas Eve? Wow. btw, I notice these are the 'clean' lists. Heh.

    The Blacklist (NBC)

They STILL were not totally committing, though. Maybe they're trying to think their way out of that. Howabout Red killed one or both of her parents -- she was adopted at age 4, right? And he did remove a dated-looking woman's photo from the stewmaker's trove. And then he was looking up some...

Gotta have a bad ass, rock-hard abs, and a gun the size of a tree. So to speak.

    RIP: Lou Reed (1942-2013)

Lou Reed is one of the few people where I always thought, "Man, when he dies, I'm going to feel OLD." I loved Velvet Underground (saw them play live at a very bizarre private party when I was 17 -- although I was too stoned to remember much). Lou Reed was the real bad boy of my generation...

    Captain Phillips

Thought it was a very good flick; well cast, and well-paced. Suspenseful even though you know the story and outcome. And (more a guilty pleasure than a spoiler)

    The Blacklist (NBC)

The pro-Dad stuff is glaringly obvious, and I agree they won't -- almost can't -- go that route, but the no-Dad clues are like breadcrumbs w/o a discernible pattern yet. I thought the comment to Red that he'd 'wasted' his one shot deep into NSA files to help Lizzy instead of getting information...

They've definitely hinted both ways, that he is, and that it's not anything that simple.

    The Blacklist (NBC)

Hope you got hazardous duty pay for the risk to your mind and your reputation. Although they're moving the husband subplot along more rapidly than I expected, they've dropped a couple little nuggets for new and deeper directions. I just love Spader as Reddington. That role has Emmy...

Homeland (SHO) - thread contains spoilers

Agreed. Much better. I sort of assume the reason they're playing Dana so much -- since it's widely reported she is the most disliked character on the show -- is to somehow make Carrie try to find Brody. Otherwise, he's really screwed.

    Sleepy Hollow (FOX)

I am enjoying it more than I thought I might after the weak 2nd episode. I liked the last one a lot. And I like Ichabod (not wild about anyone else) although if they DO change his clothes, he might be a lot less cool.

    you watch too much TV.

Homeland (SHO) - thread contains spoilers

This show is not keeping my interest. I actually disliked Dana just a little less this year, although unless she DOES something to push the plot hard very soon, that whole end of the Brody family should be dropped like a rock. Yeah, sick of crazy Carrie, she's the least interesting person...

    The Blacklist (NBC)

Totally the best new non-reality show this year. Spader is so wonderfully smug, controlling, cheerfully monstrous, and weirdly deliberate in his use and protection of Lizzy. She's becoming a little more interesting, but as an actor is no where near his level. I wish she weren't quite so pretty -...

    Free range eggs

If you find a non-early morning local source, please let me know? If you want to pay through the nose, like $6 a dozen, Whole Foods often stocks a brand called 'Vital Farms Backyard Eggs/ PASTURE RAISED' that are better than any of the usual 'cage-free' aka quasi-free range, eggs I've tried...

    MasterChef Junior

So, confession: I'm pretty much a competitive cooking-show addict - MasterChef, Iron Chef America, Chopped, Top Chef and variations... but I thought the idea of putting young kids, age 8-13, in the MasterChef format was ridiculous. But I watched, and to my surprise, I like it much better than...
