Will the Cub fan live after tonight?

I agree with Gracie, who said that the fan will need to move away from Chicago. Although nearly everyone understands and sympathizes... all it takes is one loonie to do the unthinkable. Best to re-locate.

    Should have started Pedro...

Gamble? The Red Sox HAD to win two games to get to the Series... Didn't think a Burkett start (with all other hands outside Pedro available for duty) was "controversial"

    Go Cubs!!!

Have to think that all sports writers (outside south Florida) are rooting for a Cubs victory, as they bring out loads of tradition to write about... Jayson Stark is having a field day with them: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2003/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=1637486

    You won't believe this one.

Find this far too unbelievable... source?

NY Mayor Bloomberg said Pedro should of been arrested

Under that criteria, they could arrest Zimmer for charging Pedro ... just because he ended up on the ground doesn't mean that he wasn't on the attack.

Come on Yankees, put an end to it!!

Kinda cool animation for BoSox fans http://pubpages.unh.edu/~jmpires/redsox.html

    Gonzo Injury

<< The injury is similar to what St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols played with the entire 2003 season. >> If Gonzo can approach Pujols' 2003 numbers, we can live with that

Will Kim Pitch In The Sox's Series Vs. The Yankees?

No "redemption" for BK at Yankee Stadium this year in the ALCS. BK is left off the squad http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bos/news/bos_news.jsp?ymd=20031008&content_id=568803&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos

o geez... ANYTHING but the damn Yankees! No way could I ever wish them into the series.... EVER

    C'mon Cubbies, fry those fish!!

That's a thought.... Since we're from Arizona, we could spread the rumor that local medicine men have seen this vision.... Call it the curse of the Tomahawk Chop.

    Giants are done!

Giants are playing some of their worst baseball of the year in the playoffs... it's not JUST the blatant Cruz error. They've already made 6 errors and have been leaving an incredible numer of RISP with an offense reminiscent of the 2003 D'backs.

Grace heads to booth; Batista let go

Mantei is no dummy.... He knows that no team in baseball would give him $7M unless they were already contractually obligated. You can thank Joe G. for that.

    2003 Playoff talk thread

Not just this one game, but Little likely has left his team with few resources to survive the series--they are certainly set up to fail now.

    2003 Playoff talk thread

Same here... Would've preferred to see Red Sox win, but what a great game to watch!!!

Poll. Who do you think will win the World Series??

Wanting someone to win... and predicting the winner are two different horses, but in reality the teams have no clear cut dominating favorite... so can see any of them winning the whole enchilata. Order of my prefs (purely personal for variety of reasons... slanted towards the NL primarily)...

Cubs Push Yanks out of Prime Time!

and arrogant Georgie ain't happy about it! It's about time that he was put into his place instead of egocentrically believing that his team is the center of the Universe: From the New York Times

Mantei pitched in pain throughout the year

The only LOGICAL reason to reveal such a thing is to guarantee that he'll stay put, given his contract situation. Do you think he'd say this if he had no guaranteed 7-8 M deal for next season? Mantei's no dummy and realizes that his market value is no where near the money he's getting this...

Season thread. The Diamondbacks start their run to the playoffs tonight

Seeing as how EITHER the Phillies OR Marlins is destined to win at LEAST 2 games (since they face off in a 3 game series), the odds are even less than usual for all that to take place....

Chicks Dig the long ball !!!!!!

Watch ESPN tonite... should be on there RJ's been getting some good wood on the ball the past two games after switching to Raul's bat -- Raul may end up supplying the whole team before long!

Could Curt and Gonzo be gone after this year?

Bake sales would make more sense

Could Curt and Gonzo be gone after this year?

JC is a businessman and KNOWS that it would be suicidal to dump marquee draws like Gonzo and RJ. They WILL be here next year!

Dback Jon's How the Snakes will make the playoffs thread!

Since they've won two in a row already... you are now calling for a NEW club record of 14 straight, however

    Why did Tony stop running?

Total bull.... T-Wo always had the green light, but he was never on base and in enough situations to warrant his stealing talent... Besides, T-Wo had nagging injuries the past couple of years that limited him from even attempting the few times he actually did reach base.

Season thread. The Diamondbacks start their run to the playoffs tonight

Realistically speaking, you ARE correct.... even winning out doesn't guarantee a WC spot at this point since either the Marlins or Phillies could get hot too. I didn't bite to get the post season ticket package... nor did I bite after the recorded phone message urging me to do so even after...

Season thread. The Diamondbacks start their run to the playoffs tonight

IF both Philly and Florida play mediocre ball, they could finish under 90 wins (would require the Phils to go 10-9 or worse and the Marlins to go 11-8 or worse). It's unreasonable to think that BOTH would totally tank ... though certainly both could play under .500 ball to finish out, but much...
