Who Is Fed Up With Clayton

Obvious that the TEAM stunk defensively last year, but consider that was the entire TEAM and not just Cintron. Remember that he was often working in tandem with Scotty Hairston--when a team goes bad, it's like a virus that infects everybody (even Gonzo made some horrid bloopers) If paired...

Who Is Fed Up With Clayton

THAT is also as big a hyperbole as anything Tommy B. says over the air. Cintron may make more errors on "regular" balls than Clayton, but he'll also reach a few that Clayton won't... plus, you'd have to consider how many games Cintron's bat would add vs. how many games Clayton's bat takes...

Who Is Fed Up With Clayton

Wouldn't exactly say fed up with Clayton... More fed up with the Dbacks organizational hype about the guy and his vaulted fielding, veteran presence, and "ideal" #2 hitter. Will give him props for being a decent glove guy that gets the balls that MLB shortstops are expected to get .... but...

    Diamondbacks vs Padres series thread

One of the main factors in turning double plays is having your pitchers put a LOT of guys ON base. The other factor is having pitchers that induce ground balls; thus, the Dbacks automatically figure to rank high in that area no matter who plays the keystone positions.

    Diamondbacks vs Padres series thread

Clayton's defense is vastly overrated by our broadcasters and the Dbacks front office (of course the party line is that he's "one of the best"). Admitedly, Clayton fields the ball that he can get to steadily... in other words... he makes the routine plays that all MLB shortstops are expected to...

    Diamondbacks vs Padres series thread

Many of us have called for Cintron to get more PT ever since the season began. While there's no question that he was bad last year, he performed extremely well in winter ball (he had skipped playing the previoius off season), came to ST 15 lbs lighter and with a better attitude, tore up spring...

Diamondbacks at San Francisco series thread

Fortunate that Giants "offense" is totally inept. We'll take the win, but should Vasquez pitch like that against a decent team, we'd see a completely different result.

    Randy loses to Tampa Bay

Still too early to tell for sure... RJ had a bad stretch 2-3 years ago early in the season That said, organizations have to make tough choices on superstars at times... debating between sentiment, fan support, and objective prospects for the upcoming season(s) With RJ, he made that...

    What About The Dodgers?

 Had baseball not adopted the multi-tiered playoff system for profit, it's likely that Bobby Cox would have won more than one World Series over the past decade plus. He has established a long running record for excellence. When you get to the playoffs after the long season, it's very...

    Sheffield attacks fan

So easy to pontificate when removed from the situation, watching on the TV and seeing countless replays. Put yourself in Sheffield's shoes at that moment--when you're trying to retrieve a ball and get it back to the infield in a pressure situation, and some unknown Fenway patron is taking a...

    Sheffield attacks fan

Media hypes incidents like this because they know WWF type promos work... they increase ratings, increase sales, and gain much more attention than actually focussing on the game itself. Fans are automatically drawn to things like this ... check any baseball message board out there

    Sheffield attacks fan

Deliberate punch to Sheffield's face could be argued as inadvertent... in the sense that the fan "may" have deliberately swiped at the ball without realizing that he would come in contact with Sheffield... but the fan's actions were still illegal with the ball in play, and he did interfere with...

    Are the Dbacks being dissed?

The more early April games played in Az., southern Cal., and Florida (and any domed stadiums like Minnesota) the better the odds for decent baseball weather

Curt does a job on the D'backs.

Much ado about nothing... Why should Az fans even care how Curt might "feel" or what spontaneous comments he makes? Do fans think THEY are supposed to control their former stars in everything they think, feel, or say? And then become "hurt" because they happen to make a non PC quick...

Curt does a job on the D'backs.

Media and readers making mountains outta molehills. Predictably, some people will get upset over trivia like this. All it takes is an off the cuff remark, and the media play it up big time... and readers get off on it, just like the Hollywood gossip columns. Of course no one has any in depth...

    Diamondbacks/Rockies series thread

"One" of the types of games we lost last year... along with blowouts and blown leads (less frequent since the team rarely got the lead). The Dbacks didn't discriminate on how they would lose LAST year. 2005 is an entirely different story

    No love for Halsey?

Halsey made very impressive debut... much poise and quiet confidence, not to mention getting ahead of the hitters consistently and demonstrating excellent ball control. With season tickets counted, they announced the attendance as just under 21,000. The roof was open. But it's a weekday ... some strong memories in the community from last years debacle ... it's only Todd Helton and cast of unknowns (unless some want to see BK in action again) ... gas prices...
