    Washed up pitchers

Any amount above the league minimum means that Joe Jr. again overspent for mediocre "talent"

    Jacque Jones headed to desert?

Of course not! Though the comment could still come back to reduce his market value a bit in 2005 since all MLB teams know the media games players play.

Boston site says the A-Rod deal is done

The Blue Jays are committed to building their team in the image of the Oakland A's--that's why they hired Billy Beane's former assistant as GM... and he's doing his best to implement the same type of system in Toronto... There will come a year when the Blue Jays "surprise" the baseball media...

More than meets the eye to the Schilling trade?

The D'backs are not pursuing Maddux... that's only pipe dreams of delusional fantasy fans

Boston site says the A-Rod deal is done

Can't blame you. The media will be all over the AL East this year, and you can bet more and more baseball fans will be hyped over it as well--it's a great story. Really hope the actual race matches the hype!

    Colby is back

NEVER trust the media for this kind of stuff! Like many young pitchers who had always started, this is NO big deal... and all reports indicate that the D'backs had agreed to give BK a chance as a starting pitcher when they first signed him. Reports of BK's attitude have always been filtered by...

    Catcher Controversy

End of "controversy" in black and white. This is one time that you can believe the Arizona Republic. The D'backs will head to Spring Training with two catchers slated for the club, and neither will be Rod Barajas.

    Your 2004 Arizona Diamondbacks?

Signing mediocre "talents" is NOT a "must sign" situation

    Colby is back

Most telling is quote from D'backs web site, indicating that BB will be less inclined to make multiple lineup changes in 2004:

Mayne is officialy coming to az :(

At least it's just a one-year contract ... Have to wonder if they now plan to package Barajas in another deal.

    Jacque Jones headed to desert?

 LMAO Think I could live with that, even with that Ichiro guy going into a slump the last part of the 2003 season. It's about time that Joe Jr. didn't get screwed on an exchange.

    Jacque Jones headed to desert?

Since RF is the spot for your strongest OF arm... Gonzo is NOT a viable candidate.

    D-Backs trying to aquire catcher

I'd like to see Robby develop as a catcher--RJ seems to like the way he calls the game already, and he obviously prefers that position. Later in his career... if he's finding it difficult to crouch behind the plate or wants to prolong his career by switching to a less stressful position (a la...

    Good luck Maguel

Blue Jays now in pursuit: http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1071097810330&call_pageid=969907739730&col=970081600908 No surprise that they like Miggy's SO to BB ratio since Blue Jays GM is former Billy Beane assistant.

    New Curt contract illegal?

LMAO I'll gladly revisit Boston for the reworking of the Freedom Trail--that addition alone is better an Paul Revere's gravestone!

    New Curt contract illegal?

It's no big deal... Simple matter of having lawyer reword to retain the spirit of the contract, but posed in language that satisfies MLB lawyers....

Exactly! Nothing but pure pipe cactus dreams!

    Good luck Maguel

Re: Re: Good luck Maguel Don't know much about Oliver, but Estes is WAY overpriced.. no matter how cheap he may seem! We're far better off working with prospects than taking on a known loser!

Maddux, Pudge, Vladi - all gone from their teams

Small measure of comfort that the D'backs are not the only team voluntarily overpaying for a "lefty specialist." Kline isn't even close to be worth that kind of money.

    Brewers shopping Spivey

Joe Jr. handled this transaction like a desperate eBay bidder that just HAD to have that ONE item... so he gave up everything! The price was WAY too high for what is likely to be a one-year rental player.
  22. moviegeekjn

    Brewers shopping Spivey

NOTE: I said "tradable commodities" Bautista is NOT "tradable"... no team will want him at his salary.... NONE. Spivey and all the others WERE inexpensive enough to be tradable.
  23. moviegeekjn

    Brewers shopping Spivey

Because bucketheaded D'backs management decided to dump ALL their tradable commodities at Brewers Wal-Mart for easy one stop shopping.

Sexson is a D-Back, But did we give too much?

Bickley actually writes a column worth reading and pondering: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/1202bickley1202.html

Sexson is a D-Back, But did we give too much?

That's why the main thing I hate about this deal is sending BOTH Capuano and De La Rosa to the Brewers ... It doesn't make sense to send both great prospects AND more established players for a one year rental deal.
