Suns explore deal for Pau Gasol

Sorry, guys. I just can't get on board with this. Even with Gasol straight up for Okafor, I think the end result is the Suns score less points and give up more. I can't even imagine what it might do in the locker room, which is the best culture the Suns have ever had.

Not sure I understand the issue. New news typically gets posted in a new thread. What you're seeing in the Gasol thread are the same 10 or 15 people debating the merits.

Suns explore deal for Pau Gasol

Well, you could also miss out on the Tony Parkers. Or, that pick could come in handy for a trade that could actually benefit the Suns for more than half a season and a round of playoffs.

Suns explore deal for Pau Gasol

I'm not thrilled about this at all, but Gasol is one of the best defensive rebounders in the game. That's where he gets most of his rebounds, about 8 per game. No way I give up Frye, though. He's too important to what the Suns do. I have a real hard time to give up a first-round pick. You're...

    Any news about Okafor?

Uncontested means loose balls on possessions teams gave up on. It essentially means Love collects about 8.4 rebounds a night that would likely fallen to his team, anyway. Love is there, so his teammates release and let him gather it for the outlet pass. Love is worth about 5 extra rebounds a...

    Any news about Okafor?

The question I ask is are Love's rebounds worth $8 mil more per year than Frye? Because most of Love's rebounds are uncontested -- about 8.5 per game.

    Any news about Okafor?

FWIW, I would be more reserved in a deal for, say, Kevin Love, who some think fits the superstar status. He certainly fills the stat shot and is probably the best offensive big man since Nowitzki had his legs. But we're also talking about a guy that allows his opponent to score 60% (!!!!!) from...

    Any news about Okafor?

If you think Miles Plumlee is a center forever, then sure, I see your point. I dont' think he is, but whatever. If you think Len is going to develop over the next year then, sure, I see your point. I think he's got the length of his rookie contract before he starts to show his real potential...

    Any news about Okafor?

A deal along the lines of Okafor's expiring (and insured) contract along with a draft pick) was what I had in mind. Anything more and there's no discussion.

    Any news about Okafor?

FWIW, I'm not sold out on this. I'm just saying if there's a reasonable deal to be had, that's not a bad one. At least the Suns would get a performance return on investment, and have a really good idea of what they're getting.

It's there, I've seen it. When he is confident, he puts it up on occasion.

Miles Plumlee Snubbed for All-Star Weekend Rising Stars Challenge

Good FT shooter? That's relative. He shot a career 62.5 percent in college. He's shooting .510 right now. So he was better in college, but I don't know anyone who thinks 6/10 is good FT shooting.

    Any news about Okafor?

Well, I think Plumlee could play the 4 just fine. He couldn't spread out to the corner 3, but he can hit a baseline jumper. Chandler allows you a more legit center for Len to backup, and now you're bringing Frye off the bench for offense. I think, basketball wise, it would solidify the starting...

    Any news about Okafor?

Should the Suns try to rescue Tyson Chandler from the Knicks? He's 31, probably two or three good years left. $14.1 this year, $14.5 next year.

I suppose to deal with the origins plotline. The original Dr. Who was camp, but it was more witty than silly. I guess others will have to carry their own weight when it comes to humor.

    Why I love Robert Sarver.

A couple of points: - Sarver overruled Blanks, a different regime in which he was learning just how badly he'd screwed it up. He'd also lost faith in Blanks as GM. He made a deal based on his previous front office's esteem for Dragic. *shrug* Not a smart way to do business, but I get it under...

    Why I love Robert Sarver.

Once he admitted his mistakes (in the name of winning now and being philosophically against taking a step back) and embraced a holistically healthy organizational style, I was back on board. Everything changed after that. I don't think putting together a winner is easy. I do think building a...

    Recruiting

Yeah. Strong wasn't typically lined up at X. You'd find him more at Z, next to the sidelines, trying to use his strength to get separation for that backshoulder pass. Lauderdale is a proto-typical X, which would allow Strong to stay at his more natural position. Lauderdale is also much better...

    ASU NFL Prospects

I didn't think Grice was an NFL prospect even before his injury, so I don't expect him to be drafted now. He's too slow. I can see him making a roster when he's healthy, but I don't see him getting drafted. He'll have a hard time staying on a roster because third-string running backs typically...
