Despite the fact that he fell completely out of the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, there was no prospect on Thursday night who got the media attention that quarterback Shedeur Sanders got. The Steelers selected defensive tackle Derrick Harmon with the No. 21 overall pick, and this immediately became the most polarizing choice of the round for many experts.

This includes Dan Orlvosky who was shocked the Steelers passed on Sanders. Orlovsky said that this means the Steelers must know that Aaron Rodgers is coming and they have a plan for that and this is the only reason the Steelers would pass on the former Colorado quarterback.

The Steelers were clearly unsettled on Sanders and according to reports, there was a divide among the team's decision makers about Sanders as a prospect and those who didn't want him won out in the end. The best part about this debate is that we will see who was right in the coming years. After the Steelers reached for Kenny Pickett back in 2022, it's hard to blame them for being a little gun-shy this time around.
