11 or more players could leave Chelsea in major fire-sale this summer

Chelsea could reportedly be set to sell as many as an entire XI of players this summer, or perhaps even more than that.

The Blues have a slightly bloated squad after huge amounts of spending in the last few years, with a number of the signings under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali’s ownership not really working out.

Chelsea have a number of players out on loan or taking up space in their squad without contributing much, and it now looks highly likely that a long list of them will be shown the door this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, we could see the following players leave: Raheem Sterling, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ben Chilwell, David Datro Fofana, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Deivid Washington and Carney Chukwuemeka.

It remains to be seen if every single one of the names on that list will definitely end up leaving, but it seems likely that a decent chunk of them will be moved on.

Is Chelsea’s scattergun transfer approach working?

There’s no doubt Chelsea have invested a lot in some fine young talents in recent times, with Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo proving to be big hits.

However, in general, this approach hasn’t really delivered the results the club want just yet, with numerous flops coming in under this ownership.

The likes of Sterling, Nkunku, Felix and Disasi looked like they’d be good signings when they first joined, but there’s no doubt now that they look like big wastes of money.

Chelsea fans will be impatient to see this project take off, with the west Londoners always being competitive under previous owner Roman Abramovich.

We’ll see what these sales can do for CFC in terms of raising funds for signings this summer, but it’s clear the club surely need to start spending more wisely in the near future.
