I understand the first T. Nobody runs their mouth more than Payton, but to give the second T immediately after that sooooo early in the game is not consistant with the officiating this year. Heck, in a game discussed on this board - Rasheed Wallace was doing everything in his power to get a second T...LATE in a 4th quarter and the official refused to call him for one! And it looked to me like Payton was practicing his bowling arm on that last ball he "threw."
I was watching espn last night and I heard this same comment about "so early in the game."
Since when is that a guideline for refs? Give T's late but not early? Of course if they give them late then they are ripped for not letting the players determine the outcome of the game.
Their justification was that the fans wouldn't have a chance to watch GP play. Wheres the integrity of the game in that! If that is the kind of BBall you want, watch the Globetrotters and the WWF!
If you do something worth of a T, then you should get it.
The stupidity for GP's getting tossed so early lies squarely between GP's ears. He got a T and then he threw the ball away. What did he expect? The ref would have been wrong to not make that call.
It was fun to watch Laimbeer say, "What are you talking about? He should have been outta there!"
Fact is, it looked to me like GP WANTED to take the night off. He probably wasn't looking forward to dealing with Nash and Fins all night.
