The Cards reeled off 7 wins to open the season and suddenly we were the darlings of the NFL.

Outside of Roger Wehrli I'm not sure that the 1974 Cardinals had another player on their defense that would be a starter on any other NFL team. The defense was atrocious. On the other hand, that offense was without question the best offense ever fielded by the Cardinals. I think the offensive line yielded like 8 sacks the entire year, and their skill position players were tremendous.

I'm old enough to have seen it but too old to remember (-: BUt I think the OL that put that stat up was the one with Finnie and Banks not McMillan and Brahaney?

Thompson was a reasonably good CB he was one of if not the first FA to ever leave for another team, I think he went to the Colts?

'74 through '76 were years where I could hold my head up high going to school wearing my little Cardinals jacket.

Went from being teased every Monday morning, to most of the time kids trying avoid me after a Cards win.

Stallings and Rowe were good players but by 74 were late in their careers. Defense is what kept them from being special. Were blown out in 74 and 75 playoffs.

Correct. We sucked under Bob Holway prior to the Coryell era & even Coryell was 4-9-1 his first year in 1973.

JMO, but I thought that Larry Stallings was a VG LB. And Norm Thompson was a good CB . Believe he ended up in Baltimore.
