Alfred Aboya got hurt during the Yale win, elbow in the eye and fractured the orbital bone. Initially he was out six weeks but the doctors rechecked and then sent him to a specialist who has cleared him to play the next game 11-29 wearing a mask. AS if Aboya isn't scary enough already?
kevin Love rolled his ankle but is fine, practiced the next day no problems.
USC won the tourney in anaheim this weekend 2 really impressive games wins over Miami of Ohio and Southern Illinois. Davon Jefferson finally debuted and got better all weekend finishing wiht 20 in 23 minutes over SIU. Floyd still won't admit he was suspended but he's back and playing well.
LASt night Mayo and Gibson didn't start, the SID said it was matchups which nobody bought. After the game Floyd said it was to reward others for hardwork, basketball is a team game others deserve to start. Nevermind the 2 guys who started in their places started the opener apparently Floyd forgot that. ESPN speculated they were late for a practice, nobody seems to know could be anything from that to a fight between them for all we know but once they got in they both played well and USC just blew out a pretty good SIU team.
Very impressed when they have Gibson, Jefferson, Hackett, Lewis and Mayo on the court they are REALLY good, tough to guard, and very long defensively.
I was surprised how quickly Floyd got them to play together. you can still see the arguing, Mayo and Hackett, Hackett and Gibson, Mayo and gibson, but they play hard and really looked good.
Saw just a bit of the UA game was much closer than I expected but I didn't see enough to comment too busy moving.
