The transfer portal is one of the most impactful ways to shape a roster in college basketball and some players used the opportunity especially wisely.

While we know that roster continuity matters when it comes to constructing a championship contender, it is hard to imagine a team winning a title without at least a little help from a transfer. Even before the season began, we knew that there were quite a few notable names who were going to change teams in college basketball.

Some of those players made the tournament last season, transferred, then made the tournament again with their new team.

Here was our methodology, via Bart Torvik, to find and sort all of these players: First we looked at all players who played at least 10 percent of minutes total for their collegiate team that made the tournament last season. Then, we searched for the players who made the tournament this season with the same qualifications.

To adjust for impact and playing time, we looked at how they performed in the catch-all metric box plus-minus and multiplied it by their total percent of minutes played. Then, we added that number from last season to their number from this season. Here is what it told us.
