I thought maybe we can have a playoff thread and discuss the games here. As for the first post, I was wondering what teams you want to win? I would like to see a Red Sox/Cubs World Series. That matchup would be great for baseball.

If it was between those two teams the ratings would be the lowest ever.

... but then Florida will likely get knocked out in the first round by San Francisco.

The games begin tomorrow. I think the Yankees will sweep the Twins. Hope I'm wrong but I see it going that way.

I think a Red Sox-Marlins WS would be fascinating.

Marlins were a lot of fun to watch play, and I'd like it if Jack McKeon can have a tasty bit of revenge on all the media guys who openly guffawed at his hiring mid-season. Although I'm hesitant to plunge back into the fandom abyss from whence I escaped thanks to the Diamondbacks, of course I will be pulling for the Red Sox. Man, how I coveted their offense this season....

I think that the Twins are the same as last year's Angels, I predict the Twins will win the World Series in Game 7 in Minnesota, place goes nuts

Big surprise, the Twins win game #1 3-1. George is probably not happy. The Giants win 2-0.

Cubs win 4-2 over the Braves to take a 1-0 lead. by the way, Steve Kline is a loser. He said he wants Mark Prior to get hit in the forehead by a line drive so he won't pitch again.

Twins vs. Cubs

after watching the performance by the Cubs tonight, I would be nothing less than jubilant if the Cubs won the World Series. Not only would I be in shock, but it would be totally undescribable, if the Cubs, won, it would be like last year's Angels.(who would of thought it possible)like the Angels.

The Cubs look tough, like they're on a mission of some sort. They've had just an awesome, phenominal season, they might just do it. It would be totally miraculous, awesome.

Looks like Kim is back to his old playoff form yesterday as he blew a one-run lead in the 9th. Red Sox fans on one board are so livid they don't want to see Kim on the team after this year.

Like I have said I would not be surprised to see the Diamondbacks try and trade Mantei to Boston.

Only if they'll take Hillenbrand back, too. LOL

On ESPN radio last week one of their analysts was basically saying the Red Sox just don't know if they dare put Kim in high-pressure situations. Basically that he's got attitude or confidence or stress issues, they aren't quite sure what. But as I watched last night, I thought, "Uh-oh....he's got 'that' look... here goes."

Are these playoffs great, or what?!

you know something? we think so alike. I remember watching Kim in those two agonizing games in New York in the 2001 World Series. Before the game 4 incident, when Martinez hit it out, something in the back of my mind said ' I don't like this, I' m really nervous about this Kim guy' & then guess what. Martinez hits it out tying the game at 3. Then the next nite, before Brosius hit it out, same thing, something about Kim made me very uncomfortable, ill-at-ease, something like that, very hard to describe, like you can't trust him.

same thing last nite, I am never comfortable watching Kim pitch in the post-season when his team is ahead. He's bad luck, a jinx.

It was horrible managing by Little that cost the Sox this game.

1) You let your starter go 130 pitches in game 1

2) You pull your closer with 2 on and 2 out after he just got a K on a nasty slider for the 2nd out.

3) You replace said closer with a lefty to pitch to a guy who has basically no platoon split this year.

4) You put in your game 3 starter and let him pitch what.....2 innings?

5) You allow your pinch runner to hit because of your horrible bench managing.

The fact is, Little was managing the game like his life was at stake and that is his fault, not Kims. People get so emotional about BK it's borderline crazy (but thats just what irrational fans do)

Not just this one game, but Little likely has left his team with few resources to survive the series--they are certainly set up to fail now.

I don't think any team can win, in the playoffs, giving up 10 walks. As to Kim his selection of pitches in hitting the left handed batter was foolish. I also agree that he should have been left in for one more batter.
