Now this is purely hypothetical of course and for fun.. No need for rude bashing like some people like to do on here.

WHAT IF;

Kobe Bryant and the Phoenix Suns came to an agreement and Kobe signed with the Suns to play along side a young Amare.

The thought of Bryant in a Suns uniform sickens me as much as back then. I honestly say that if I knew today that Phoenix would have won a title with Bryant, I would still prefer the recent history with near-championships with players I really like. I know, most people will call me nuts...
Would the Suns have had success with Bryant and Amar'e? Yeah, possibly. But would it have been some sort of mini-dynasty? Unlikely.

Next question; Why didn't we go for him instead of Nash?

I agree with the above poster.. If I could relive those 04-05-06 seasons again I'd do it in a heart beat.. Except try to keep JJ at all costs.

Remember in 05 when we almost completely dominated the all star weekend? Those days were just sick!

Still though, a championship or two would have been nice.. We would have probably not lost to the damn spurs all those years.. We'd have better D in Kobe AND the Lakers wouldn't have won those two championships.

That all star weekend was awesome! Nash won the skill challenge, Q the three-point shootout, Amar'e (and Steve) had a nice showing at the dunk contest, and didn't Majerle and co even win the shootout?

Good point about the Lakers NOT winning championships. However, I'm sure that franchise would have found a way to compensate the loss of Bryant. Some lopsided trades, a win in the draft lottery or something along those lines....

From what I recall, the Suns did go after Bryant, sort of, offering him a max contract on the first day of free agency, but this was mostly a courtesy offer because everyone knew that Bryant would re-sign with the Lakers.

Do you guys think of Suns had resigned Amare, we could have got Melo?

A big 3 of Amare, Melo & Nash would be TERRIFYING!!!!

I doubt it, i believe the city was the lure for Melo, he is from NY and La la is wife works MTV NY. Amare presence helped a little but i suspected he would have picked NY.

It would work way better here with nash than in NY with billups.

Nash & Amare's pick n roll was pretty much unstoppable, and even when/if amare gets contained you've got melo to throw them off.. Throw in Gortat in that mix and its over IMO

Nash
Carter/
Melo
Amare
Gortat

Oh my god.

Yup and we wouldnt have to worry that much if Amare got injured cause we's still have Melo.
